The term being used by monks in the video -- "活佛" (huófó) -- does in fact translate to "Living Buddha" or "Buddha incarnate". This is a title for Lamas which has been used for centuries -- it is nothing new. So, yes, this video is using the correct terminology; "Living Buddha" is an accurate translation of "活佛".

I love this very educational and informative presentation. But it reinforces my knowledge that Tibetan Buddhism is an important place to begin your education, but by no means the final place. If Tibetan Buddhist were wise, they will find their Dali Lama’s in the obvious places that few explore. They will see the signs in the forest trees and the above the rooftops of their condominium.

Thanks for your presentation. Buddha in this case meant a compassionate being who practiced many values the Lord Gautama Buddha taught, but not the same. Otherwise the Lord Buddha and all of his Arahants would be reincarnated for eternity. The Lord Buddha said his Dhamma teachings would last only 5000 years. Whereas the “Living Buddhas” here can reincarnated in perpetuity. Therefore they weren’t or aren’t at even the first stage of enlightenment, the 7 returner (Sotapanna or have their Dhamma eyes opened) level yet. Reincarnation and other superpowers might lead to at best distractions and at worst demerits..leading to rebirth in the hell or demons realm. Reincarnation can be achieved thru Hindu yoga practices and other religions too. With that said, one should never be disrespectful to the living Buddhas. I hope just point alone shows the difference between them. Loving kindness to everyone.
@Pine Joi thanks for your thoughts. Living Buddhas are not enlightened beings. They’re not Buddha. The word Buddhahood is a made up word from misunderstanding practitioners. Far from it I’m afraid. Awakening without truly understanding of 4 noble truths, are false thoughts. That’s the differences between rebirth (due to personal karmic formation) and reincarnation (due to personal desires). Mastering a certain superpowers doesn’t mean one is awakening or reaching enlightenment. The demons have superpowers too. The demons know what the Lord Buddha’s teachings too. But they don’t practice them. Also, how can anyone humble a person with superpowers… that someone could easily slip into onerous. Just because he or she believes he or she had finished the path. These are not "Living Buddhas" as it is repeated numerous times by the narrator, who also mispronounces many important words, Like "Panchen" and "Dalai" - showing that he knows little to nothing about Tibetan Buddhism and was just hired to narrate. "Living Buddha" is an inaccurate term - they are really "Living Bodhisattvas"...(very high level practitioners who are, like all of us, "Future Buddhas". These Bodhisattvas put off the attainment of full Buddhahood until all sentient beings have been able to transcend Samsara (embodied existence)....only then will these Bodhisattvas enter full Liberation. So calling them "Living Buddhas" is both inaccurate and misleading. (BTW - They also don't want to be called Buddhas!) It seems it is often Chinese who tend to make this mistake about calling High Lamas "Living Buddhas" It may be an intentional mistake, as the Chinese Government has tortured, killed, lied constantly about H.H. The 14th Dalai Lama...they also kidnapped (or killed) the Panchen Lama (who is still missing after decades). In Truth the Government is anti Buddhist, and anti Tibet.
Mao himself was completely anti religion - he said horrible things to the Dalai Lama.
Do you live in Tibet ? What gives you the idea that the government is anti-tibet ? Chinese government built road, railroads, houses, erect electricity poles, give free education, transport even vegetables to Tibet. If you enter any given Tibetan household, they will tell you that Mao Zedong is a "living Buddha". they will not say Living Bodhisattvas, as the meaning is lost in translation from Tibetan to Chinese and from Chinese back to Tibetans.

14thDalai Lama doesn't care about power that's why he gave his political authority to the people. He said if Tibetan want to live under china he doesn't mind it's up to the Tibetans. His only desire is to promote buddhism all over the world that's all.
