    So good to see another video from you! You look well rested, hope all's well with you and yours. You have officially become part of my Saturday routine: errands, shopping, and watch your vids while taking a midday break and catching my breath. Loved the lamps, my eyebrows shot up when you said $800.00 though! That's a hella return on your investment! Would love to see video of the show in August; will you be taking any other items? Thanks so much for posting, looking forward to the next one.

    Who knew the pairs of floor lamps would be worth so much. Almost all of us would have walked right past them. Good Eye!

      Team is an expensive wood and those lamps were solidly made. I recently looked for some teak dowels to replace a chair stretcher and I was shocked at the price

      I am not an expert in lamps , but recognized them as mid century ,I took a close look at them to make sure they were not a homemade lamp . at 50 cents each just grab and go and figure it out later

    • @cynsmi
      @cynsmi 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, they did look a little like a high school shop project at quick glance and you are so correct that at 50 cents each it was worth the effort to carry them out. Great eye!

    Great find and refinishing! It might be best to sell without shades! As a collector, I would want some nice fiberglass retro styled shades or something dramatic- those can be pricey! Or, at least a custom linen or silk pair. Also pricey. I wouldn’t spend too much time or money on the shades as an inexpensive pair will just be replaced by whomever buys them. Just my two cents! Good luck at the show! Please make a video of it!

      exactly , the table lamp I listed without a shade . the floor lamps are going to a show so they need some sort of shades .

    You can tie a knot in a base as a cable strain relief not straight through the hole to make lamp a bit safer in case someone pulls on the cable and lamp becomes live

    Nice find, and nice restoration, but you've got to REALLY be into MCM to spend 800$ on two pole lamps. I know some people are. Also, were the wooden poles solid, or split down the centre? Seems crazy to think that they would have drilled them for the rod on such long pieces.

      Especially since we know that he only paid $.50 each !!! Hope the eventual buyers never find THAT out... :-)

    Nice lamps. Job well done. From what I could see of the table lamp, it looks like the wiring had been replaced; the plug was a style that came out later.

    • @rosstaylorwoodworking728
      @rosstaylorwoodworking728  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes it has a later polorized plug , but it was in good shape

      I have looked at the other lamps like these and they have a drum shade .I may go to a lamp store and get help in finding the right size shades

    I have a question, my parents have wooden cabinets I have tried almost everything to clean them would TSP and warm water clean them? Around the handles they look like they have never been cleaned before. Any ideas on cleaning them up?

    @6:26 I don’t understand why the cheese cloth in the glass jar??? It looks wet? Help!

    • @rosstaylorwoodworking728
      @rosstaylorwoodworking728  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the glass jar is an airtight non combustible container . oily rags can spontaneously combust if left wadded up and exposed to open air . it is only for overnight storage . once I was done with the job I soaked them in water .
