They were glam all along imho, the later focus on masculinity seemed like a made up commercial style - and you cant say that about Motorhead, even the people in their videos are just normal people who stand out.

Yeah, and I have the book he wrote called "White Line Fever" where he calls Motorhead metal. Even in an interview about Metallica he refers to Motorhead as metal. You also have to take into account that Lemmy was 70 and he's been playing rock music before Metal even existed. In Lemmy's own words metal is the evolution of Rock and Roll. "It's all just rock and roll." And he's right metal is still just rock and roll, just a different side of it, same as punk was. All you have to do is listen to songs like Burner, Orgasmatron, Sacrifice, Shake the World, those songs are clearly metal. No one gets on stage and says "Are you ready to metal?", people still say "are you ready to rock?" even when it's metal, because that's what metal is....it's still rock and roll, even Lemmy knew that. Lemmy has always hated the over classification of music. Many metal musicians will tell you Motorhead was metal from Scott Ian of Anthrax to Barney Greenway of Napalm Death. Motorhead still retained the swagger, and blues of rock and roll, but it was metal.
