Mitchell kept us in the game in the 1st half with 18 points. 0-9 on 3s in 1st half to a perfect 8-8 in the 2nd was the obvious difference maker. Defense was better in the 2nd half as well but Duke is still allowing way to many easy baskets at the rim, with no real rim protector like Lively last year,teams don't seem to fear driving to the basket at all against Duke. Hopefully they can figure out how to slow it down. Maybe Reeves can get healthy and get back on the court soon along with Stewart Hopefully getting more minutes as the season goes on. Overall things look to be moving in the right direction. I would like to see more talking to each other from the team, these guys don't really seem like they are very close, you don't see the high fives or the chest bumps with one another, the camaraderie doesn't seem to be very strong with this team. I'd definitely like to see Stewart and Powers get more minutes going forward, a bigger rotation would be great and will definitely help the team be stronger. I honestly thought Duke was gonna have an easy 10 man rotation before the season started but that's definitely not been the case. I am definitely confused by the lack of playing time for Stewart and Powers, even against weaker opponents that Duke was blowing out those guys barely got 2 or 3 minutes a game. I'm just puzzled as to why because these are 2 highly ranked players coming in this season and I can't imagine they would be sitting on the bench at about any other school. Sheyer knows what he is doing of course, I'm just curious as to why they're barely getting any playing time because I haven't seen or heard him say anything about why those 2 haven't gotten much game time. I personally think those 2 could absolutely help this team be even stronger. Let's Go Duke 🏀
Syracuse simply doesn't have the talent to compete against top teams. While Mintz shows some flashes of brilliance, he is overrated, and will only be a fringe player in the NBA. Syracuse is definitely no longer a major basketball program; they have become a mid major mediocre program.
Cuse fan since i started watching basketball as a kid in the 90s. Unfortunately I have to agree with you for the most part. Other than Judah Mintz, I don’t think there is a NBA prospect on this roster. And even him, I don’t think he’s a top guard prospect like Michael Carter Williams, Johnny Flynn, Dion Waiters, Tyler Ennis, and Malachi Richardson, all 1st round guards who played here in the last 15 years… I have to say we are probably a bit better than last 2 years and probably would be a lock to make the NIT or maybe sneak in as a bubble team. I think overall, the whole ACC has been down for the last few seasons. No disrespect to your Duke team, but this Duke team also wouldn’t beat any of the Duke team from 2000-2020. Same can be said for UNC.
