    Backdraft is absolutely brilliant . The fire in the movie just knew the firefighters were gonna take it out but it had to fight back and that’s why it’s the star of the movie

    Good bit of writing at 4:36. Too bad they cut the linking scene out. In an original draft of the screenplay they had lost a member in the line of duty at a fire where they had no backup due to the cutbacks. He starts to say the name of the firefighter and realizes he's not there. "Down to two probies, great" not the world's greatest situation when it's getting shitty. They had a scene that was filmed and aired on some TV versions where they visited the widow later on, during the montage.

    • @derekwall200
      @derekwall200 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well a backdraft is worse in my opinion because of how quickly the flames can surge at you if you're unlucky enough to open a door to room full of smoke where most of the oxygen inside is almost consumed with a flame still flickering. and once someone opens the door and reintroduces oxygen to the room, the flames will surge at you very quickly with enough force to blow you off your feet and destroy parts of the structure.

    Backdraft was a great Hollywood movie but in this fire if it were a still alarm the minimum equipment responding would be 2 Engines, 2 Trucks, 1 Battalion Chief if it was a box alarm then they would have sent 4 Engines,
    2 Trucks, 1 Battalion Chief
    In the movie they sent only one truck and one engine which is not the normal response for a working structure fire and even if the alderman had closed down stations then stations even though they may be far away would still have been responding to this fire there would not be a situation where there was absolutely no backup whatsoever
