If you want any info on that 42 cube Industrial Commercial Briggs just ask. They were nice smooth running and smooth sounding low compression valve-in-block (Flat head) engines. I designed and patented 27" propane floor burnishers using these for power. Burn propane in one and the exhaust valve seats will fall out, the valve stem guides work out of place, and the block's head gasket surface will always warp down at the corner by exhaust valve.
I have 2 of those engines, ones 46 inch vertical shaft and a 42 inch hoizontal. Never finished the projects they were for but one of them was pretty much what you did haha. I even have vids I never pubilished of me workin on that stuff, that's what I was into and the mini bikes were an extra idea. Until I got one lol.
The project is looking pretty cool Rick. I saw it in the background of a couple of your videos, so i knew you have been busy on it in between minibike builds. I always look forward to see what your working on! Great job my friend. 🎥✌🇺🇸

So far it's been lowered 3.5" with pit bike wheels running Kenda K413 performance scooter tires. Hopefully by the end of May it will done.
I kinda agree with you on the steering. That looks kinda sketchy. I don't know if I'd want to trust that on a chain at high speeds! I like your idea that looks really cool! When I was in highschool in the 80's i took one of those Montgomery Ward minibikes and took the gears and 12 horse Tecumseh engine and stretched the frame of an old lawnmower. That go cart could go 70 mph! It was all fun and games until my cousin came over to visit. He rolled it because he made too tight of a turn. He broke every weld on the frame. After that I wasn't allowed to fix it 😢! I had gotten into trouble for making something that was dangerous. Lol.

Also they may make a gearbox for your steering problem that will solve that better than what you have now. I remember another guy ran into that problem with his mower that he put a snowmobile engine in. I believe that is the way he had to go. But right now I don't remember who he was. It's been quite awhile since I have last seen any of his videos.
I don't think the steering will work very well. i relocated the factory steering gear to the front of the chassis & rotated it 90°, so the steering shaft pointed straight back to the driver. Or something like oe would work better. Those universal joints suck, especially when there is more than one!
@@BustedKnucklesBuildsTexas I can't remember how I arranged the tie rods, exactly, but I do remember I shortened the cross link to be the left half tie rod & shortened the lateral link to be the right side tie rod. I know it was all original parts, except the steering shaft, just rearranged. i wish I had taken more videos of my JD180, before I sold it! it also had a wheelbarrow seat, but the engine was no longer under the hood, that was space for your feet. The engine was replaced with a 212, and mounted in back, above the transaxle. The transaxle was also flipped 90°, to work with a horizontal shaft engine, with a centrifugal clutch & chain replacing the belt. The transaxle was opened (to weld the diff) & refilled with 000 grease. No gaskets & no sealant was used when reassembled, but it never leaked!

(The stock JD pedals that were also flipped to point in instead of out.) i tested top speed & saw 27mph (using my phone w/ gps) so I made a little bracket that blocked the shifter into 3rd gear. If I had added brakes (or hadn't removed the governor) I would have removed that, but it was still using the 3" disc that was original to the mower. That was connected to the pedal with some garage door cable routed through 1/4" steel tubing.
@@BustedKnucklesBuildsTexas I always wanted to rig up a 5 speed transaxle with an air clutch to speed shift it, using a drive shaft, instead of a belt. Admittedly, those things might not handle the power and might bust open all over the street...
something you need to do is up the idle, those opposed twins will blow up from oil starvation at low rpm. I keep mine around 2k and that works good.
