In the autumn of the thirteenth year of Jian'an (208 AD), Cao Cao personally led an army of invaded the south in five ways, intending to capture Jingzhou, but Liu Cao surrendered without a fight and sacrificed the nine counties of Jingzhou to Cao Cao. Liu Bei learned that he was busy discussing with Liang, and Liang ordered the residents of Xinye to move to Fancheng, lured Cao Ren and others into Xinye, and set it on fire at night, and Cao Jun fled Xinye, but was killed on the way, flooded, and suffered heavy casualties.
