Maslanka is definitely my favorite band composer! He really brought life to the symphony in the realm of the wind ensemble/ band! His symphony no. 4 is a bit more famous, you should check that one out too!

Agreed! I love the 8th and the 4th symphony of his, but they’re all good! This recording didn’t have the best sax part during that second movement excerpt, but it’s the St. Olaf Band which is the band that I’m playing in now, so it felt appropriate! (This recording was before my time at St. Olaf)
