So far, every person I've seen react to this series seems to miss a huge point when it comes to Akk and his motivations. And that is of the core group we're following, he's the only one there on scholarship. In a precious episode while his and Aye are arguing he says something along the lines that when Aye wanted to come to this school his mother just moved him to the school without a problem, (meaning she had the money to do that) and Akk points out not everyone has that option. Not everyone can do what they want because unlike Aye and his family, not everyone has the money to do so. In other words, some people are forced because of circumstances to do things they may not want to do or may not agree with not because they want to but because they feel they have to. Aye can have these big mortal standards because he can afford to. Not everyone Akk points out to him has that luxury. Akk is in that school because of his academics and because he does his best to straddle the middle ground and obey the rules. On his shoulders rest his future in getting into a good university, I'm sure as a kid on scholarship he wants to make sure not to cause his parents any financial hardship. He also wants to make them proud of him. As a Prefect of the school, he wants to do his best to keep order. As we can see he's being pressured to do that. All of these things contribute to his motivations and the actions he takes or in some cases the actions he refuses to take.
