Simply stunning. Visiting ruins is one of the surest ways to put in perspective how small we all are in the grand scheme of world history...but how big of an impact our legacy can have!
The stuff my dreams are made of. I've dreamt of seeing the temples on the mainland but didn't know about this temple. Absolutely beautiful and so cool that you were virtually there on your own!
If ever there was an architectural structure that can take you back in time, the Greek ruins are at the top of the list. Your footage made me feel like I was right at the Temple of Poseidon with you.
Great spot, love the Doric columns! We're actually going to the Greek ruins at Agrigento on Sicily tomorrow which I'm really looking forward to - thanks for whetting my appetite!
I would really like to make it to Greece this year. You got some great captures of the temple. Great that you got in for free. Looks like you had it all to yourself.
I'm always so amazed at buildings/ruins that have survived all these years. I bet the sunsets there are just unreal. Nice voiceover of information too!
I am going to Athens, Greece for the very first time in April. I am not sure if we can go to Cape Sounion. but I would like to go and explore as you did. It seemed the place was reserved only for you :)
(1000 BC) When Theseus returned from Crete, he had agreed with his father, King Aegean, to lift white sails if he had defeated the Minotaur. The King waited for his son in Sounio - near to the today temple - and looked at the sea. Theseus forgot to pick up the white sails and approach Attica with the black ones. When the King Aegean saw them from afar, he fell into the sea and drowned. This is what the legend says, that it was named the Aegean Sea. There is another explanation, but it is difficult to explain as it concerns the Greek language.

Each sunset here is very special - I am sure you would love it :)
When I was in Athens I regret not leaving the city to see other temples. I would love the watch the sunset from here.
If you get the chance to visit Athens again, I would definitely recommend both this temple, and also a trip to Delphi!
Love how you talked about the history while showing the temple. We would I’ve to visit it Jon person someday!
Hopefully this has inspired you to add it to your bucket list!
Beautiful, like the voice over history lesson, nicely shot, thank you!
Thanks very much !
Fantastic. Hard to believe it was built 5 c BC ! The greeks were amazing. The sea looks very inviting. Did you find Byrons graffiti?

Cool to hear about the history of the Temple. Did you know there is a lot of Greek items in the British Museum?
