      Yeah, definitely. My grandpa was one of those people who escaped from the North during the Korean war. He was 14 years old and came all the way to the South by himself. He escaped with his two older siblings leaving his parents and 5 younger siblings behind but both his brother and sister were executed after they were caught leaving North. Somehow, my grandpa managed to survive by escaping jail. My mum tried to find his family members to have them met in one of these events but she had no luck. Either the waiting list was extremely long or the family was no longer living. I think she found out later that the whole family was executed after my grandpa and his siblings fled. I know he was told by his parents to flee (just the older three) because it'd be too risky with the younger ones. He passed away yesterday and I hope he's with his long lost family he's been longing to see since the day he escaped. If it weren't for his strong will to survive, I wouldn't be here today.

My dad and our uncles and aunties survived and moved to Seoul. My grandpa was deep in to the government of North Korea, but he escaped due to his difference with the politics of North Korea as of right now. My dad told me when North Korea is free to unite with South, he wants to visit back where he was born and raised as a childhood.

      the truth is much more grim than you put it, it's not just politics, humans are a predatory animal. After we killed all the mega-beasts on the planet we are left with fighting each other, it is in our gene to prey on each others. million of years of evolution isn't going to change our behavior in a thousand year. If you think our default behavior is peaceful cohabitation, history tells you no.

      @@goognamgoognw6637 Everything said here is scientifically fraught. Humans are the dominant intelligent species of Earth specifically because of our ability for social cooperation. We're deeply social, to the point of caring even for *other* species. Humans don't have sharp teeth or claws; we're physically built more for endurance and speed than brute strength. Our nature is written all over our bodies. Any creature will kill its own in certain conditions, but a species supposedly built upon blood-lust for their own kind would not last very long on an evolutionary scale. Your viewpoint is very grim & ignores countless instances of humanity's aiding each other in times of need. There are many lights in the dark, don't blind yourself to them.

    As a Cambodian, my country was under communist regime like North Korea since Khmer rogue from 1975 to 1979 but now there’s no more communism in Cambodia and we Cambodians are living with a democratic government now so my country is peaceful until now. But now, I’ve cried so much for this Korean reunion like my country was under communist regime for 50 years. Both north and south koreas are one people together so please turn the whole peninsula back into one Korea again 😭😢😖😣

    I know of 80 year old man who got selected for the lottery to see his son and daughter in the North for 12 hours (it was 2004 reunion I think) - they were seperated for nearly 60 years. He has been sending it the application since mid 80s. As soon as he came back, very next day he sent out another application for another lottery...hoping to be selected again.

    Why not let S. Korea and N. Korea determine their fate! US and all countries must leave South Korea!

    • @1312_PV
      @1312_PV 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If US leaves SK it dies. SK lives mostly off using its workforce brutally in US paid semiconductor and electronics industries. The brutality might be more, less or the same in NK, but their economic independence is surely higher. Also, China would put great pressure in SK.

    • @kyleadap

      @@1312_PV China must also stop meddling with Korean Business. Let the two Koreas talk or fight without intervention from any country.

      @@kyleadap Yeah, if the USA was not letting SK and NK alone neither is China, sadly. I wish it would happen, but we have to face the sad truth :/

    • @kyleadap
      @kyleadap 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@1312_PV i agree with you, we can only wish. I’m not an expert in Diplomacy but i guess the two Koreas wants to make amends. What is preventing them from uniting is this proxy war of the super powers. These superpowers are making Korea their battleground. If no one is backing either side my good guess is that they won’t fight.

    • @1312_PV
      @1312_PV 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kyleadap There exist some common feeling, shown in the willingness of both sides to join, but each on their terms. I think both have solid reasons to oppose the other government, and it's hard to say if this can end without a military invasion. Regarding exterior policy, in points such as the Japanese claiming of an historically Korean island they cooperate militarily. But that is the kind of cooperation I'm less interested on myself.
      I think NK is a bit less influenced by foreign superpowers since it aims to have very large independence from the exterior, it could continue working if left alone, as their model is not commercial but of self substainance and developing of their own solutions. But if they wanted to fully close ties with China I'm certain it'd get them into some serious trouble.

    I’m actually surprised there weren’t outcries of South Korean people that went missing during or after this.
    Let’s face it, the North Korean folks will just deny everything if some of the South Korean people that participated this several years back went “missing” and were never seen again.
