My Yanmar 3GM30F was giving my "CW TEMP" alarms after 20 minutes of running. I was seeing water from the exhaust port, but only a trickle.
I opened up the raw water strainer and it was clean. So I took it out to take a closer look.
There was a 90 elbow fitting on the input, and it was plugged with grass. That is, I had a blockage before the strainer.
I may replace the 90 with a straight, someday, but I'll need longer hoses, so I'm not doing it today.

Try attaching and Earth wire to the strainer. It should slow or even stop most of the corrosion. Let us know how it goes.

I like the idea of the plastic between the strainer and bracket, but unless the bolts were also isolated not sure you’ve accomplished your end goal. If it turns out to continue corroding, maybe make a bracket from several layers of fiberglass and epoxy, although as long as its the aluminum that’s corroding and not the strainer, it would take several replacement aluminum brackets to pay for the cost in time/material of building a fiberglass bracket.

Great job, Dan. I have never heard of that particular paste mixture. You may have seen on my Instagram that when I rebuilt the strainer that I picked up at the boat flea market, I just submersed mine in plain white vinegar only and it removed all of the green, however, it did come back somewhat in a few days. I don't know if there is a permanent solution.
It won't be long now till you're taking the winter cover off! Cheers, Phil

I didn't want the Vinegar to get into the existing plumbing connections so I avoided Emerson... the green did come back a little on mine as well, but I figured it would. Thanks Phil! :)

Dan, any issues with air lock? Or are you addressing that by loosening the top bolts to let water fill completely? Thanks!

I used to do that but the impellar will suck air or water out of there so it doesn't really matter
