In this video we're talking all about how to backside air on transition. #Skateboarding
What trick should we do on the next episode of My Perspective!?
More basic transition would be great - I'm just at the stage of carve grinds and trying to start preparing myself to learn a bit more when my wrist heals.
reverts...damn painful lesson I even lost my confidence for rock to fakie....
then boardslides!
Yeah I am digging the transition skating. Recently built a ramp in my backyard so I’m obsessing over learning this stuff haha
FS airs, reverts and smiths 👍🏻
TBH this really actually helps me get the idea. I've been wanting to back side air so I can get bionic like Grosso. 😜👍
Saint grosso!! 🙏
Yeee love these tutorials especially when they feature Al too!
Finally figured this trick out lol, bs Ollie really does help if you learn it first because it essentially is the same motion as bs ollie I find except on bs air once you scrape the tail and your in the air I bring my back knee up and use my fingers to almost flap the back of the board back to my back foot. Otherwise the board dangles and can easily hang up. Ive noticed a lot of people struggle with that once you scrape the tail is how to keep it stuck to your back foot. I had that issue forever... I like to think of it as a "bs finger ollie" lol. I find this trick super easy to start learning on quarter to bank.
Nice explanation!
Zack I randomly came across your TH-cam a few days ago... we used to skate a bunch back in San Diego around 2007ish, I just moved there from NYC and knew nobody. You and the homies would always shred Washington St. It was super rad being surrounded by such awesome dudes. Great vids man, hope all is well.
Dope!! So sick to reconnect digitally, hope all is well Matti.
Backside airs are for sure a very satisfying trick to watch.
Backside Airs and Frontside 5050s! I could do those forever.
“That was on the edge.” Classic
Finally some decent transition truck tips 🙏 much needed keep it up
What's a truck tip
@@FyMp916 it’s what I need to learn when I’m drunk typing a comment during a backside air
So sick!! You guys made these look so effortless!!
Just wanted to say real quick that I love your content. Great diversity of skate topics and all super well done without coming across like a TH-cam personality
Thank you Lukas that means a lot!
I so want to be able to do backside air late grabs - then I can retire a happy man :)
Nice tutorial!
Al's back on!...this is a must watch video
camelo Next episode with Al too! ♥️🤘
You have super taste for video production. Great content too! Keep it up!
That was on the edge!
I love these tutorials!! So much insight!!
My goal is to get these and my frontside airs over coping by summer! We'll see. Thanks guys! 😝
Great video. You guys compliment each other well. Nice inclusion of your last DIY spot.
Thank you Joe! ♥️🤘
Love the vid fellas. Shredding 🤙
Great advice and tips.

Bro you keep coming in lit man i just vibe with everything you got
I appreciate that brotha
I’m going to sesh these tomorrow! I’m committed! Also frontside Airs would be a good video
This is a nice explanation 👳 I'm going to try these again .
You make this trick look so fun
Wow this was so good
Great tips
super clean backside airs great perspective! Best dudes as always! I gave up on trying these a couple years ago but would love to land one on something bigger than 6ft i know it would feel good!
Yes! I found it a lot harder on anything under 5/6 ft because there’s less transition to land in.
That was a suoer helpful trick tip video. Thanks 👍
I guess you guys are shredding if you're ever up in Northern California stop by Corning skatepark we love to ride with you
Best tutorial ever!!!!
great vid, gonna try to learn this now!
Great video! Loved it
I'm working on my fall portfolio for this autumn season
🤣🤘
Guys! Great video! My back foot always comes off the tail. What am I doing wrong? Should I move my foot closer to the bolts? Should I tuck more? Should I grab harder? Should I hold the board on my back foot with the grab? 🤯 I can backside ollie, but adding the grab f's it all up! All the best, Rich in Sweden.
It might be from trying to grab the board, and the counter-balance from your back foot, could be slipping off because you're not kicking the tall down. As you grab, you also need to put pressure onto your tail in order to keep your foot on, sorta like a rubber-band effect. Applying pressure towards your foot/back leg will help balance that out.
@@ZackDowdy thanks for that! Maybe. I thought I was perhaps kicking the tail too hard and that is why it flies away. It doesn't just drift a couple of inches away from my foot, it really flies away behind me! I noticed that tucking my front leg up to my chest as much as possible helps. I am 6'2" and I have a lot of leg to hide!
I hope to try some out tomorrow.
Thanks for that tutorial Zack! I don't know if I will have the balls to try but it was very instructive!👍
It's always fun to pad up and just bail them to get the feeling as well! Thanks for the support man.
Al is a madman. Love this stuff Dowdy. Tailblock or Nosepick?
Phil Deadfield Nosepick is a great idea, thank you!
Another great video dude, thanks for the tips. So I’m just gearing up now to be getting into BS airs , I’ve been hopping over the hip in my local bowl for a while now and just started skating vert properly and been feeling the potential to get air with my bs kick turns so I think I’m ready , I’ll be filming it all on my YT channel too.
Going to check out your channel, glad it helped man!
Zack Dowdy thanks dude, that’s awesome 👍🏻 just bear in mind I’m about half a year behind with my edits and uploads 😬😆
very cool video 👌🏽👌🏽
I will learn these b4 I die!
Do you watch the board into your hand
Doing these really well is on the bucket list before I get Corona virus and die just like the pres.. thanks for the awesome tutorial Zach man! Uploading into brain now... ... ...
I might just have to try this.
I'm learning backside airs, and i want to know where do I pump? I mean how
different do you pump vs something like a back side 5050? when I pump a
BS air like a 5050, i feel like i pump twice, once at the bottom and
then again when i bonk off the coping and if feels like too much body
action. sometimes when i don't pump at the bottom transition and sort of
just ride up, it feels more natural, to just grab and air. Am i
tripping? is there any truth to this?
I have a question do When you practice below coping do you reach for the grab because when I'm below coping the grab doesn't come to my hand or do I just bend my knees on the way up and let the the board come to me
Good question, when practicing below coping I'd bend my knees more. The idea is you don't want to reach to far to grab your board because you loose balance...
Ok thanks I will get out there and try it
Thank you

🔥🔥🔥
what about backside air without a grab
i just want to be able to get just over the coping for now, maybe ill get higher later
Nice
thanks for this video. I must rewatch and try to learn these once my ankle heals
This video was sick as fuck and it was at my home park so radical 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
6 h8ers dislike my Dawgs ? g outta here bros! Dis content iZ dope city copasetic.
Damn doing airs looks so sketchy 😅 I bet that would be super satisfying to learn though!
Imo you dont need a bs ollie, its just riding up to the coping (try keeping your eyes on the coping in order to hit it right) and then when you hit the top grabbing your nose and just turn your shoulders a bit, you actually dont even need to turn full 180 bevause if the gravity pulls you down again you turn automatically
Fuck yeah bs airs are on my hitlist. Thanks for this
Didnt Erick Winkowski film some of his parts in that same bowl?
versnellingspookie Yes he did! Erick crushed memorial skatepark on a regular basis.
@@ZackDowdy sick! He's my favorite skater for sure, thx for the sick vids too
Yeaah!! Saw that bowl and instantly thought about Erick!
I think I’m first
Owen Clark 🙌💯
Zack Dowdy thanks for replying your one of my favorite skater TH-camrs
Your homie kinda looks like Josh Brolin
Here's a trick tip when you grab your board give a subtle pull and hold it tight your front foot as you're rotating in the air..Or you can skip all this dumb shit and just learn them by doing early grabs start grabbing later and later higher on the transition
Solid tip!
Memo
Trying this and the hand grab shit is cash money
Zack there’s this big drainage ditch near my house we made a DIY parked there but the city came and destroyed it it would be great spot to set up a little DIY hit up my Instagram and we can talk more @dylan.bowman it’s in Carlsbad
One day... lol
A portfallio lol
I disagree that you first need to learn backside ollies.
