Banding and Painting the Steel Wheels on my VW Mk2 Golf!

- So after wanting banded steels on the golf since i very first brought the car, i've finally got around to doing the mk2's original wheels. After deciding that i'd band and paint them myself it's took a while, but i'm very happy with how the car looks now. I hope you enjoy and thanks for watching -Beth

and not to mention the safety systems required by new international legislation.

Thought I was going to see a video about pinstriping wheels, thinking banding was a term for that in the UK. Instead learned you can widen steel wheels if you have the skills. Talented young lady!

I have been working with cars since January 2008 (18yrd ) in my business Family as a car painter, and until today a still don't know how to do wide work wheels in a proper and safe way. I spent the first 3 years restoring my escort mk1 doing the whole sheet metal, fabrication, welding process and obviously paint job from the bare metal to clear coat. I learned a lot in that car!
I would love to have had your skills at that time.
Nowadays, there are lots of guys looking for this kind of work wheels, but most of the welders don't want to do it because they are afraid to let the wheels distorted and deformed.
I truly admire your skills, impressive!

That's the sort of thing the Grass Track boys used to get up to with all their racers. Used to weld bracing struts into the wheels as well.

Looking good. Next, get that front valance straight and see if you can get a Mk2 small bumper GTI lower lip spoiler to finish up the front of the car! :)
For repairs I'm will to attempt my self (so I can learn a little more and save a bit of ca$h). Only having access to basic tools. I sometimes, end up rolling around on the road, under a car getting messy. Watching video of people that have access to repair shops. Seems to allow so much more space to grow and learn.

Nice to see a decent level of machine skill going in to a job for a change! The amount of people who 'modify' cars and the modification is somewhat dubious, its always refreshing to see how its supposed to be done, its a bonus that is a lass who knows how to do engineering stuff :)
Wow. I use to work in a rim shop and let me tell you something, you put those men to shame. They wouldn't be able to do what you just showed me.
