    Make a wide board that will span a sink and cut a hole in one end and insert a colander.

    Love these!! Question- with these being cutting boards, do you have to reseal them after a certain period as you painted them? Just wondering how they hold up to being washed and what care/upkeep tips to give my customers ☺️

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kathryn Malloy they hold up well to washing. Treat them like a butcher block, they may need re-oiled after awhile.

    I’m wondering if you liked the angle grinder for first pass to get sharp edges off before using sanding? I have always used the sander but some projects take quite a bit of time and effort to get them rounded and looking old. How much do you sell the large boards for? Oh my rule for arguing is ask the question “will this matter a year from now?” If not move on👍🏻Thanks for sharing😊

      Oh yeah. The angle grinder is so fast!
      When we use the old wood from the farmhouse The large boards sell for around $100.00.

    Tape measure math.
    Hold your place for the long measure. Fold the clip end back to the hold point. Read the value at the center of the fold curve.
    Example.
    Measure 55 inches. Place the 0 end at 55 inches. Read 27.5 inches on the inside of the tape's loop. Too easy Drill Sargent, too easy.

    Hello, I have made these and LOVE the old wood ones. However, i used zinc sweet pickins on the new wood and I am not thrilled with them. If I'm not, then they probably won't sell. What tips might you have for the new boards. The zinc came out more green on the new boards. Can I mix sweet pickins and farmhouse together??

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Generally speaking most wood is safe to use around food. There are some varieties that aren’t safe so it’s important to know the tree the wood came from. Mostly we use pine, alder, oak, walnut, maple, birch, poplar for our wood working.

    Love the 20 yr old wood grinder! With that great tool, I'd make a center "well" or depression for making dough (flour piled with a raw egg center, slippery lit'l egg always runs away) and/or individual EGG pockets/craddles for whole eggs so they won't roll away!?
    Imagine a Big Old Butcher Block Top like the wonderful French butcher shops had - all uneven, worn in the one working spot, with the lowest portion leading the liquids to a catch bucket?! Not practical but so neat and can never find (here in the USA).
    Have fun!
