There is no doubt that McLaren has made a huge mishap in that strategy. I mean, I can understand the pressure of executing the strategy in the race perfectly, and that Oscar winning would help the team in the constructors championship standings. However, that win didn't feel great as lando had to give up his shot at winning. The whole nature of letting Oscar pass lando for the win kinda made the whole mood of the win drop. However, I suppose I shouldn't be too hard on McLaren strategists as they did have both cars get a 1-2.
One would think it wouldn't be. It was clearly a mess all around and even Lando admitted that it wasn't handled very well at all. One day we can only hope that Oscar will have a victory that WON'T be overshadowed be something, be it Max clinching the WDC in the sprint, or...this.
