    I like the single heatshrink approach. The wires are going to end up together anyway - may as well heat shrink them together too.

    +novice expert I really hope the installation will be up soon my r1 has been collecting dust ever since you recommended getting an e3d so I'm waiting to be able to install it

      Elijah Talassazan Out of town, will be up when I get back. This is the assembly though, your printer doesn't have hexagon extruder any longer?

    Your timing couldn't be better! I've had a Robo3D for quite a while now but it jammed ages ago and I kind of left it gathering dust (literally) as I was always daunted by the thought of changing the hotend (I'm not very good with electronics etc).
    I finally decided to pull my finger out and try to get my printer back up and running so I assembled the E3D v5 hotend that I got ages ago too and I currently have my Robo stripped down with the old hotend removed and the new v5 waiting to be installed.
    I was sat looking at it last night wondering what the best way to install it would be so I'm really looking forward to your next video.

      Chris Broadbent I should be able to get it online tomorrow.

    Great video! i was wondering if you could explain the difference between different nozzle sizes and if you need do adjust the software in anyway to use them.

    • @NoviceExpertise
      @NoviceExpertise  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      damskippy25 I can make a detailed video on setup later but to put it simply; bigger nozzle allows faster prints, and layers larger than 300 microns; smaller nozzle allows more detailed prints and layers smaller than 100 microns. and as far as software goes (in Cura at least) just change nozzle size in advanced settings. An extruder calibration would have to be done as well.

    Thanks for all of your videos. I just purchased a Robo 3D R1 Plus and cant wait to apply some of your upgrades to it! I just have a quick question about the exact model of the e3d-v6 you are using. The website has a 12v and 24v option as well as a direct drive or Bowden option. I'm assuming for the Robo 3d R1 Plus it would be The 12v Bowden option? Thanks again for all the information you provide.

    • @NoviceExpertise
      @NoviceExpertise  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      12v direct, you would bowden if you did this: th-cam.com/video/SlBzf3BRglk/w-d-xo.html

    Is there a possibility of a filament jam at the end of the tube in the cooling block when the tube pulls back on retraction?

    I was looking for a cooling block that uses the pneumatic fitting to grab the tubing. Wouldn't it be better? Thanks.

      It has pneumatic connector integrated. It is the black part around the tube that is normally blue and releases the tube when pressed. PS: I think Czech phrase decoder is more robust to bad word order in phrases...

    I'm ready to buy an e3d v6 for my r1. Mine is set for 120 volts. Do I buy the 12 volt or 24 volt. Love your stuff. I have downloaded all your videos. Such super help.

    • @NoviceExpertise
      @NoviceExpertise  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark Buzbee 12v, The 24 volt one is only for printers that have a 24v system. Robo 3Ds are 12v. (sorry for the late response, TH-cam wasn't notifying me of any of my comments)

    Hey dude, I heard you can use the same thermistor from the stock print head. I recently broke the one that came with the e3d v6 :(. Will it be possible to just screw in the thermistor thats already wired up?

    • @NoviceExpertise
      @NoviceExpertise  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yilen Pan Yes, I buy extras just in case they go out. I use these www.amazon.com/RioRand-10-100Kohm-NTC-Thermistors/dp/B00GD471PO/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1435214098&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=thermisitor

    • @yipz
      @yipz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Novice Expert perfect, I just ordered those. But can you use the thermistor that's attached to the stock extruder? I'd love to be able to install this before my amazon order gets in.

    Hello there! I could really use some help. I followed your videos on installing the e3d v6 on my Robo 3d. I also updated the software. Everything seems to be plugged in but not working properly. I am using Mattercontrol. What is not working: Manual movements (but the home buttons work), preheatings, and printing (of course). I am getting an error: "Your printer is reporting a hardware Error. This may prevent your printer from functioning properly. Error Reported: Extruder switched off. MAXTEMP triggered!" Please help :)

    • @NoviceExpertise
      @NoviceExpertise  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend making a detailed thread about your issue on the Robo3D forum.
      There is always someone there to help, me on the other hand have work and school, help from me may not be to consistent.

    The point of a heatsink is to pull heat away not blow air on it.

    I have the Robo 3D R1. There are two versions of the E3D v6 on Amazon, Direct, and "with Bowden add-on". Which one do I need?

    • @NoviceExpertise
      @NoviceExpertise  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Buzz Above Direct, the Bowden add on is for a printer that has the extruders gears away from the extruder head.

      +Novice Expert I've just ordered an E3D V6 "Bowden" Extruder because in your video you show a Bowden type extruder. Are they the same and I can just cut the Bowden tube before the hogbolt like you did?

      This is the one I ordered.. Hope I didn't make a mistake. www.ebay.com/itm/171967949252?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
