I love how this game shows the psychological aspect of risk. Magenta got the most bonus troops out of all players for the majority of the game and showed a huge amount of of off capital troops. To me it wouldve been plausible that he had a solid stack on all of his capitals due to his income troops as well as the off cap troops they confidently showed, I never wouldve touched any of their territories
-254 on the 109 final cap roll That’s how cap rolls are supposed to go. None of this even or positive bullshit. Build an insurmountable advantage so you can take losses like that. Another GG Pete👍🏻
General rules are caps in corners are terrible. Caps in locked pockets are bad. Caps that help you hold a pocket are good early and Caps that are open in many directions are good late.
@@FreePete Ok, thank helps a lot. I've always been hesitant to try caps just because I never really understood what a good ro bad cap was, I've seen some plays where you said the caps people placed were bad, like in this game, but I didn't exctly understand why. Thank you for the explanation.
I won a game on this map a couple days ago, I was in the final 1v1 and the dude was just stalling after he “won” got me down to two territories and he was up 660 troops. I card traded, broke out, and won over the next hour just because I could capture territories faster, it was amazing to punish someone stalling the ending out like he did. Don’t trap someone in a box for 3 turns giving them a card trade lol
I know that you won this game. But you were lucky. You failed to realize your biggest flaw. You see when you start off, wherever your cap is in this map. You must take all of your forces, no matter how much is on your cap for defense, and put them in the bonus where you get two points. It's very crucial. Even if you lose your cap wich is also two points plus an extra defense as the cap itself. "When you get the two point bonus, you get the keys to world domination in risk" -Sun Tzu The Art of War)
Hey Pete, I've seen when you trade in your cards you switch it so they're all the same. Is there a reason behind it? Better odds on the next card etc? Cheers!
I think that he assumed that magenta was going to set and so planned as if that was going to happen, then it didn't quite register that magenta didn't set. Makes sure to give the bot 3rd as well!

before the game started i paused to say this: OOH a gascony position clearly the best cap spot in the game but i know pete will ignore it because he loves dinaric more than anything in this world. let's press play now and see if i'm right
@@FreePete lol sir i could pretend to not be worried about that and say welll green is 1st in the turn order and probably an 8v4 is too risky and they are likely not a grandmaster and would focus on their own territory acquisition and not see that as a turn 1 play. i'd be lying. the truth is no thought went into it other than ooh gascony! the heart wants what it wants
That last roll was brutal, 254 troops lost to a 109 cap ^^'

When the dice actually work the way they're supposed to against a cap 😂
Really bad bad dices😂
@@OberynOswald the od for a 109 cap is 196 lost :) but yes, it's not another positive cap roll XD
I love me some meta settings. Watch these every day. Thanks Pete :)

Yeah man. The biggest lesson is always to put troops on your capital

Oh I always get my gems!
Thank you, Nr. Peatman, for the focused strategery (rather than the nonsequiters).
You'd probably enjoy the other channel more if you're just here for strategy.

Blue and green going with the split bonuses early game is funny
It's funny to see two players make the same mistake in the same game.
What a 🤣 when you took London from Magenta and then seconds later Denmark. Unbelievable.
Do you have any videos on how to strategically place capitols and what makes a "good" or "bad cap?

Love it says don’t take a split bonus talks about doing it a minute later😂😂
always play it out. I came back from 3 territories and down 120ish troops. luck of the draw with sets and not unlocking the other guys trapped stacks.
Of course!

When you put three of a kind back into the deck you increase your likelihood of drawing that specific card (which you need to complete a set on three)
Gotcha. New skill acquired. Thank-You
What?? Why?
34:30 why don't you just kill pink here for 5 cards?
I think that at around 34:00 you should have set and killed magenta then setter again for a cap run
👍

How is someone who’s good enough to make multiple kills in a fog game also bad enough to leave every capital unguarded?
