  • How excited I was as I found my way from the Sydney Airport to my accommodations in Potts Point at the Macleay Serviced Apartments for 10 nights.

Well done. A good presentation. I live in Newcastle which is about 2 hours drive north of Sydney and recently travelled by train down to Sydney on business and decided to go out on the train to the International Airport just to have a look around. I't's now 2017 and the one big change is that the tickening system is totally different now. It's called the Opal tap on/tap off system. Big improvment on the old paper tickeing system.

Come back to sydney now and you’ll for sure be very pleasant with all the massive new better changes to the train systems and to the city as a whole comparing to last time you came here in 2014. For short, Sydney now is way much better than last time you’re here

There's two ways you can get to Kings Cross from the airport. As suggested you can get the train to Central and change to the train to Eastern Suburbs line to Kings Cross. Alternatively you can catch a train in the opposite direction one or two stops to change at Wolli Creek, as the Eastern Suburbs line crosses the Airport Line there. The train tickets out of the Airport (Domestic and International stations) include an Airport access fee, which is why they are at lot more expensive than usual, but it can sometimes be faster than a cab to get anywhere in peak hours. BTW 'Quay' is pronounced the same as 'key' and Kings Cross is a 'red light' district, so it can be exciting for some and a bit edgey for others.

The 400 Bus is cheaper than the Train from the Airport , I get the 400 bus from the Airport to Mascot Station where there isn't a gate fee and catch the Train into the City
When we travel in a group we get an Uber or Taxi to Mascot Railway Station [ about 10 minutes ] The Trip view App is great

Funny. I used to live in Chatswood and North Ryde in Sydney but left 30 years ago for Vancouver, Canada. Sydney has changed a lot I noticed on a trip back in 2012. I wouldn’t want to return, I know that.

2:37 Quay pronounced as Key.... 😀✌✌✌✌ And getting the Train in Sydney is no Problem..... Just always bring your Opal Card with you and always tap up and you can use it in any source of transportation in Sydney.

Hi Tom, I was actually born in Sydney and lived there until moving to Melbourne in 1981. Believe it or not, I have never been on the airport train, as it only started running after I left. Incidentally, Circular Quay is pronounced as "Circular Key". Also, the train line to Kings Cross is part of the Eastern Suburbs Railway, which was opened back in 1979. The actual "Mind the Gap" statement was stolen from London UK. LOL.

Notice how on the escalator everyone was standing on the left (except the narrator) to allow people in a hurry to pass.A sample of Australian etiquette.
