Another very rocky pool excavation

  • The soil test said no rock... can you believe that?! We took truck load after truck load out of this site, all had to be broken down to smaller than usual size and carted out the very narrow side access. Another tricky rock removal job where we utilised a combination of Expando (expanding chemical cracking agent) and regular high explosives, in a high density residential area. Job done, no damage, no complaints

It would drastically reduce the chances of a house fire catching a neighbouring building at the least.

have you done a time laps on that expando compound working?

MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼……………….. I just don’t understand why y’all don’t have thumbs on your excavators. The operator could have picked out all the rocks that the machine could have handled, stacked them out of the hole, and left the dirt to cover up your explosives. The only reason I can think of is that it’s a “ macho “ thing. “ I don’t need no bleedin’ thumb! Thumbs are for Sheila’s! “ ( read with an Australian accent, LOL!) My thing is work smarter, not harder.

Is there a cost difference between using Expando V's Explosives? Or do you just charge for 'Rock Removal' and use whatever method seems appropriate at the time?
Given how effective Expando seems to be, I can't see it been a cheap product to buy.

The Expando is a bit dearer because more holes are required, I used the expando first because I knew it would be a week before the digger came back from holiday and it would be less annoying for the neighbors.

I took the fuse out of my track siren. Annoys the shit out of me in confined residential sites. Cat didn’t like my suggestion of a switch to disable the noise so the fuse fell out!

Every excavator I've been in here in the USA has a switch to silence the beeping

I've been using a new 20T Cat machine over the last few days and the beeper that tells you that you are changing buckets is so loud that I need ear plugs in! Not very impressed with the digger.

@@demolitiondavedrillandblast I don't think you can silence the bucket change alert, but I bet it has a volume control, the problem will be figuring out where to look in the computer

You guys need to strike up a deal with Mexico to bring in some laborers for excavations like that. 10 Mexicans could have that hole cleared in about 10 hours. They are some serious diggers.

Amazing skill to get the Kubota down the side of the house like that and watching you use feather and wedges on those rocks is awesome Dave. Going through the back catalogue now! :)
