When I was a kid my father used to bring me there whenever dropped by downtown area. It was a hidden gem for me. Nice to see this place never changes its charm.
I saw stationary store and came running! I love writing letters, just dont have many people that share that passion. That store is simply amazing, we need one here in the US ha ha oh my goodness all the fountain pens!!! I still use a physical planner, I just can't get used to digital planners. I love pens so much, I already have so many but I never have enough at the same time ha h a All the art supplies, my heart.
Amazing store! The great thing about Tokyo are the many beautifully-designed super-large stores specialising in one thing: Tower Records, Tsutaya, or Itoya as seen in this cool tour video. It's stationary heaven for real! Thank you for showing it to us 😊
I use both digital and manual planners. At one time, I was only on digital version and found out that manual writing is actually critical to a healthy brain. So, I've been adding the manual planning and diary writing, especially cursive, into my routines.
It is a beautiful store and I would want to take my time looking on most of the floors. I have always loved stationery stores, but I am mostly digital now.
What a great store! I love pens. 🤷🏼♀️ Lol. Would love to see the kids part in another video. I actually use a digital and paper calendar. I prefer to use EXCEL to make my own and then print it out and put it on my refrigerator. I just duplicate it each month and start over. I add everyone’s activities in their own color, family birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Then I can use pen or pencil to change it throughout the month. I will prepare a few months at a time and reprint future months as they fill in. The digital calendar is great because it keeps my husband connected and I can refer to it when I am in town and need to schedule a future appointment. And for keeping track of things i. The distant future. I “sync up” my paper and digital calendars frequently. We recently purchased a magnetic calendar for the refrigerator for my senior in high school so she can learn to better manage her own super busy schedule, since she drives herself every where! For daily reminders I set alarms throughout the day, erase them when completed and start over the next day. It helps my ADHD brain. Ha
These types of stores existed in America when I was a child. My Mom did so many arts and crafts and I would often go with her. I was in heaven right along with her. 😊 Now I have many of her supplies.
I'm mostly digital, but I want to go back to analogue for somethings, like calendar and quick note-taking, etc... there have been just too many times when I tried to check my productivity apps, only to find I have no mobile (or wifi) signal. Generally, though, I am certainly interested in becoming more offline in some other areas too. 🙂
I always hated writing thank you cards to people, not that I didn’t want to but just I never know what to say to people, I love writing in journals, I have a nice leather one that’s refillable pages
I recommend going to Yuzawaya Kamata branch. They have 3?4? buildings full of arts and crafts supplies. I like to go there to buy cut cloth for sewing.
I think you can design your own stamp at the travellers notebook store. This happened many years and saw Amy tangerine do it in a video. You need a Japanese address too
I looooooove this video! Thanks for sharing 🥰 I always go here to get birthday cards / season’s greeting card. In November, I would suggest you to visit Icho-Namiki at Meiji Jingu Gaien, beautiful ginkgo streets! 💛
I noticed you purchased the pens before going to the other floors. Is this something that’s common in stores in Japan? We are visiting next year for the first time!
Ive never been to Japan but had been in art&craft stores here in Germany. Largest one I had been to was in my hometown tht is as big as the first floor is maybe 5x as big as the floors look like in your video, but the 2nd floor is like 1/2 as big as one floor from our video and it is mainly paints, canvases, brushes,... and some other times. When I first ever been to a art&crafts store I thought it will not be any differnt from the tiny book and stationary store in the town I grew up in but it was totally different. The most known chain in the area of where I live in Germany is mostly (not always) 2 floors and has a mixed variety of decor pieces, stuff to decorate cake and cookies, arts&craft materials and more. The most common thing all stores seem to have is that they mainly focus on selling canvases, papers, pencils, paints and markers. Since I first ever saw one of these rts&Crafts stores on a video from Japan, I would really like to try one out someday, altho I can get many of the brands here too.
It was interesting to see a Faber Castell display. I love their water color pencils and have a big set. Curious how the prices in Japan would be compared to in Scotland where we got them when we lived there. Or compared to the U.S. where we live now.
@@gerriebell2128 Not sure tho, but the rts&craft stores I been to here in Germany, depending on what type exactly, you can buy individual pencils from the brand from 1,50€ (the kid pencils with the dots on them) to 2,20€ (the polycromos) and sets are between 8€ (for 10 kid pencils) and 28€ (for 10 Goldfarber) as the cheapest sets
Sarah thought there would be flowers, I thought maybe it would highlight some farm project they have outside of the city, but no - lettuce! :) I guess they could have called it "Lettuce Farm"

When I visit Tokyo, Itoya is definitely on our list of must see places.. Thanks for the video.
Japanese stationary is second to none!❤️🇨🇦
I would lose my mind! I love stationary!
It is pretty impressive :)

Ginza shopping is the best!
I ❤ stationary. That place looks like paradise
I went this summer to Itoya and saw my old classmate!
I've been in this stationary/journal phase that it looks amazing in there
More adventures like this please!
Alright! :)

Wow- that's a good argument for writing!

Ruth does something very similar - keeping a physical wall calendar and also keeping up with our digital one.
How fun hard to find in America now ❤

i use manual planner/ journal... currently using 5year hobonichi journal very recommended

this video was so amazing!! i'm a huge stationary lover so i would definitely love to visit this store some day :)
You should!
Oh i am in love😂😂😂. As Postcrosser i White a lot of postcards, and i live to write letters. I have to go here😂❤
You should!
So nice ❤ I wanna visit
I always hated writing thank you cards to people, not that I didn’t want to but just I never know what to say to people, I love writing in journals, I have a nice leather one that’s refillable pages
I am in Tokyo and Kyoto for the next few days from US. I don’t know where you guys are, but maybe I’ll bump into you 😄
Oh boy! :) I think we could.
Loved it I hope they have a website so I could possible order something from there.
www.ito-ya.co.jp
It's heaven for momちゃん and kids.
。。。papaちゃん, in a few years, the stationery store will be changed to a cosmetics store.😅😅
Can you please do another speaking Japanese all day video now you've all been immersed longer 🙂🙂🙂
I love my paper planner.
I recommend going to Yuzawaya Kamata branch. They have 3?4? buildings full of arts and crafts supplies. I like to go there to buy cut cloth for sewing.
I use both digital and physical, it’s comfortable
I would be broke lol 😂❤
Sometime very good quality items will be little more expensive. It is not friendly for anyone budget. However, people will spend that money.
I completely understand! I spend plenty of money in my area of video production gear! :)

Looks like a great place but I also have a problem (allergy) with certain smells.

Yes! We take it for granted now, but in most stores you purchase your items on the floor where you found them.

And store Quijote?😂❤🎉
That would certainly be a big store to visit!
❤
FRILLED LETTUCE!
Why did I think that the “farm” level was going to actually have farm animals inside the building? Lol
Sarah thought there would be flowers, I thought maybe it would highlight some farm project they have outside of the city, but no - lettuce! :) I guess they could have called it "Lettuce Farm"
Shopping at Level 7 with Aunty Rach can be very dangerous HAHAAHAHAHAHA Lets go TokyoHands instead !!!
That would be a FUN place for a video too :)
Hello from Victoria BC Canada!
Kid section might have been cheaper.
We really want to go back and try at some point!
This is a rerun. When will you show something new?
Did Anna and Becca get braces?
They sure did - invisaline
@@LIJ Are they liking it?
Po, Japanese stationary also become expensive. Especially pocket planners or notesare very expensive! I guess 1,000yen was not enough.
At least the kids bought pens they really wanted! :)
In the $6:58 US dollar, only be able to get a few pens. Ranges from $4 US dollar to $1:50 US dollar.
I am glad able buy something in the range. They will like to use.
