YEsssss. I use logic pro and I hate it when the bass is so kicky. And I would Like to do the same.
put a soft clipper on the master you don't even really need a kick if sidechaining is too hard dont forget to turn up the 808 volume along with the soft clipper

Knowing really basic music theory can be super helpful so that you have some language to describe the sounds you're hearing. Doesn't need to be anything advanced
