Lancaster's AMISH LAND Oldest CASH CROP End of Summer Harvest...Amish and Mennonite Tobacco Harvest

Come along and watch as Burley, PA 41 and Connecticut Broadleaf tobacco varieties are harvested in Lancaster County's Amish Land. Tobacco has been grown as a cash crop for hundreds of years by the Anabaptists of the county. The crop has been a "mortgage lifter" since the advent of the mortgage.

I worked on a small dairy farm back in the 70’s. This is how we farmed tobacco minus the horses. We had an old Deere and several Minneapolis Moline’s one you hand cranked to start.
