Thank You Bob, I have watched many videos on how to do this, this is on of the best. I have do the listen a few times portable but have not tried to make a contact yet. I have headset coming. I am setting up a home earth station and yes is has cost me some money IC-9700 antennas and rotator. Still waiting for some of the parts to show up (the 600$ worth of coax is what is holding that up from Italy haha.
I think you are correct for the portable I need to keep practice. I love your phone app I am gong to down load it onto my iPhone. Thank You Again!

Thanks for the video, Bob. Can you supply a rough schematic of what you have hooked up there?
Would like to see how the headset, recorder and ptt switch are assembled and connected to each other and the HT.
    Thanks,

Great video, I learned a lot from it. One question, If you are using 2 ht radios with an Arrow antenna, do you need a filter for the receiver ht so it does not get damaged by the other transmitting ht's power? Thanks.

You kind of glossed over the PTT button. Is that something specific to the radio? What do I search for if I don't have that specific radio? New ham looking for what interests me.

Great explanation, appreciate you speaking slow so what you are saying can sink in, most other discussions on TH-cam are rushed. Would like to have you explain your HT radio to antenna setup with some closeup shots, trying to figure out what cables, splitter cable is needed to hook up headphones and recorder is still something I am struggling with, have a new Arrow antenna, new Th D72 but for now I have set it aside .. need help look forward to watching your TH-cam’s. I was under the impression that if any repeater was involved it didn't count as a dx contact as far as counting in dxcc? I have heard a couple birds just on my vertical. Never tried to work them as I don't have the hand beam, or the fancy dual axis stuff.

Good call-out. There is dxcc for satellites, but your sat contacts are not be counted as any other mode. It is a separate certificate.

Bob, excellent video. I have been licensed about 9 months. I started working satellites about a month ago without a recorder, which is a pain. I would like to add a recorder. Would it be possible to get the name of cables, their source and possibly a schematic of how to hook up a recorder? My Wouxun 8D Plus uses the same plug as your Kenwood radio and I am using a Heil Sound headset. Thanks

Thank you for making this video and sharing it with all of us. I took your advice and bought the ISS detector app. On the amateur radio satellite selection screen, can you please tell me which satellites would work with an FM walkie talkie? I would like to add usable satellites to my tracking list. Thanks in advance! I am of course subscribed with notifications turned on and thumbs up! 73 W3GUY

AO91 and SO50 are both operational and will work with a FM HT. AO92 was one also, but I believe it is having battery issues. The ISS has a crossband repeater you can access also. If you have APRS capability, Falconsat-3 has 9600 baud APRS you can try. The ISS also has APRS.
