When I first started, I was lucky enough to have a den in my apartment that was their own space. However, if you have no other option and you WANT to separate then just hang a curtain or get a partition. Just start. 💜 my ancestors give me EVERYTHING... they're so loving and patient. My Goddess has her own separate alter as well. Now they share a room fully dedicated to my practice in the whole big ass house they blessed me with.. Ase 🙏🏽

It’s ridiculous for anyone to say never set up your answers a altar in your bedroom where you sleep when your soul leaves your body at night and astral travels to many dimensions realms and the ancestor realm is also ridiculous to think that you are separated from your ancestors you cannot be separated from your ancestors you are a crystallized physical manifestation sum total of all of your DNA ancestors you are a walking altar it doesn’t matter whether you sleep with the altar in your bedroom or not they are within you already everything you taste smell here see in touch affects your DNA and your ancestors fill it as well yes you set up a physical alter but know that you are also a walking breathing alter you are your ancestors. Whatever resonates with you is what you should do however there is no harm in setting up an altar in your bedroom.

My alter and appeasing time happens in your room, that's the most sacred place where you're alone with your thoughts and energies. I contact my ancestors only once a month. Cleanse yourself and the room as often as possible, keep it minimal, clean and very minimal human traffic. In essence ancestors are more concerned with your relationship with them, they rarely care where it is as long as you acknowledge them.

Now I'm blessed to say I have a total complete altar Room for my ancestors. They said, "I go to prepare a place with many rooms" They did exactly that for me. As I grew In my spirituality and trusting my Ori, my ancestors, and spirit guides, so did my resources. All this to say, Start where you are, and do what you can with what you have. Our ancestors literally had nothing but intentions, dust, Nature. Asé

They want it to be there. They are guardians and I'm most vulnerable when I sleep. Perhaps when I share my life they may want more privacy. For now they WANT, CHOSE when they commune. I have one drawer dedicated as an altar space for my deities and now my ancestors and it is in my room with nothing seperating it from me. I also have one of my deities altar in a bag of books on my bed. The very first altar for my deity was right under my pillow, that's what I could have started with and it worked for the time but as things grew I moved it to the bag of books and put the rest of my deities things in a drawer. Unless who you work with tells you to change how you do things, don't let anyone put restrictions on your spirituality if it is not for your safety or to be respectful (like learning what are closed practises, etc). 💜

He didn't think his time was better than anyone else's, just that it's a privilege to live one more day. That's what I try to live forward, compassion and respect for everyone and a belief that we are all waking up and trying to do our best. Would my ancestors care about my behavior? I think they'd be okay with me. Maybe they'd wonder why I have anxiety and aren't eating more while I can. I don't think they're judgmental. Just trying hard, like me.

And when we need to have a "meeting" to handle some business, I put up a portable table and we dress it in the linens that my family has passed on to me. We all dwell in this room together. And frankly my ancestors began their social system by sharing a cave with their entire community and gradually developed what has come to be known as a viking long house. A shared environment. The reason why I leave my ancestors altar outside of my bedroom is because I am mixed ( black and white ), I don’t know to much of my black mothers side of the family due do her death at an early age, so all I really know is my dads side. Well if we go back in history some of my ancestors were slave traders, slave owners and KKK members.
Well I started out with my altar in my room because of limited space so I noticed over time I had some of my stuff broken, missing or I would wake up with terrible dreams of enslaved people being abused, or having hand marks or scratch marks on my body. And every time I would have those feelings something would be different about my ancestors altar. So through the guidance of another folk practitioner they advised me to move it to another part of the house ( hallway closet ) and since then I haven’t had any problems.
So basically my racist ancestors were harassing me and messing with me while I slept, waking up with bloody welps and scratch marks on my body, and breaking/taking my stuff while I was away, or even there

I did my research and found out to many skeletons and decided that i would break away from my ancestors and start my own line. Whats interesting is i am the 1st of my family to be born abroad. I also have saturn conjunct mars in the 4th of Capricorn at 0° which usually mean reseting your ancestral line amd breaking generational curses.

I would use the sheet as a wall to separate it if I had no sheet I would place it in the coner of my room and separate it with rocks sticks stones whatever I had! U can always find pine cones I believe the spirit will honor that bc ITS ALL YOU HAVE AND YOUR INTENTION IS PURE❤this is my opinion and MOST ASSUREDLY WHAT I WOULD DO AND I BELIEVE IT WOULD WORK SO YES I WOULD SET ONE UP IN MY BEDROOM IF THATS ALL I HAD; however I believe if you are CHOSEN TO TEND A ALTER THE SPIRIT WILL MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED EVEN THE PROPER ROOM! Again I don’t know that much but to me having to TEND A ALTER, and putting one up to honor is 2 separate things

I hear, “don’t put it in you bedroom, no sex around it, don’t get dressed in front of it, don’t put roses on the altar, only white things on altar”. It’s so much. As for the no sex in front of the altar. I know a lot of people that get busy in the living room. And as for me, a lot of my ancestors are Jehovah’s Witnesses so I’m really confuse.

Not an ancestral altar, but I used to have an altar in my bedroom. Not a problem for it to be there, but, it clashed with my sons energy - he was still little then with lots of energy. I learnt along the way a quiet place is best. But I mean, an altar can be whatever you make it to be, it can be a shelf in a cupboard, a setting at a table, or even portable as something that can be packed away when not in use. A windowsill, a side table, or even a whole room. It doesn't even have to be indoors, unless that's what your ancestors want... Go with your flow

Yep sounds like a first world problem and to me I think the opposite. I get meetings and visits in my sleep and wake up with the knowledge shared or thought process stimulated. So I’d say an alter matters not. The oldest root of what an alter was, was a BBQ.
    Straight up.
A “niche” rather was found in the earliest of single room dugout cave homes, wherein one would honor their ancestors or beloved kin through the keeping of shrine or token and I’m sure prayers and rituals that went along with the special moment.
So really we should be calling these “alters” niches or shrines to not confuse this separate purpose of a shrine niche vs an alter.
The alter however or the BBQ or stove nowadays is different. This where the prayers and spells of the priestess/mom went to work. She made magic learned from the ancestors no doubt to keep her family and kin well and positive no matter what came their way.
So truly I would like to see us make “alters” of our stoves and kitchens and a separate niche or place of honored reverence for the Ancestors to have seat in our home.
My grandmother kept 2 extra places set at her kitchen table for her mama and her grandmama. Even made their best dishes on their birthdays and set out like people be doing with cookies for Santa.
There is no wrong way to be who you are.
But this my nerdy and somewhat spiritual intuition on the matter.
Love ya thanks for spreading the love and knowledge
