I have gone through the history of English literature many a times and revised many books like Legouis and Cazamian, David Dachies, Edward Albert, Indian authors like Dr. T. Singh, R D Trivedi, B. S Dahia, etc . but least is asked in competitive exams.
The best way to prepare is to choose a topic and go through it deeply and use notepad and internet to jot down bits of information...
While teaching you write prominent things on white board,your this teaching style is outstanding and very helpful to students of rural areas like us.

You have opened the whole strategy of competition while the cream emotional factor of English literature all time tentalising to me.I have studied English literature and a single piece of any view fascinated me again and again in curtail i found memory needs enhancement as well to inculcation in mind makes an ascending order of time.37 plays of shakespeare are also a big task to have in mind its characters also makes a confusion.I liked shakespeare, Robert Browning,wordswoorth,T.S Eliot,Etc.But enormous ideas made me tired I wonder how all literature can be inculcated for time mamory.At any instance.I think it is not posible without going thought in yourself.Because any writer,s thought is his idea or thought it cant be ours without deep emotional.such as your strategy may fascinate everyone definitely very nice study but it cant be for others without going with your way.
