Let's say a 7 hatch ship is filling 5 hatches with bulk grain and 2 hatches are going to be slack. The ship is loading to a mark because it has a draught restriction. You get the cubits of each hatch. Then you determine how much cargo in mts it will hold based upon the test weight of the cargo being loaded. That will tell you how much is going into the slack hatches. To determine let's say a slack hatch that would fill with 10000 mts but is only holding 3000 mts due to being slack what % would that be and how do u determine such? By taking the total hatch cubits(large number) and deciding it into the amount of cargo ( small number you get the exact % of how much volume is being filled!
