I agree w/ this teaching and have learned these things over time as I’ve been in a season of marital discord for almost this whole year. I struggled with control and manipulation, I reflected and have changed my ways. My spouse is a prodigal at the moment and I have been remaining and standing still, praying, interceding and seeking God. There’s a lot of teaching on standing and getting out of the way of God’s will, but not so much on how to stand and remain standing with purpose when there’s so many parts and complexities to it-backlash of the spouse, family affairs, living everyday in limbo. It’s just a sad thing 😔.
Been where you are , 6.5 yrs later this message is confirmation and truth of letting go totally and praying for prodigal spouse . It’s a process and working through forgiveness of spouse and self , and releasing the control , it’s a freeing experience to give it all to God . Knowing God gives us all free will to choose even our spouse.

Although I agree all that is said, but for many people who get left behind to be honest with themselves that their partners were given honest reason to want out of relationship, that the one who got left behind was being in the wrong. Or, some partners, both done wrong. But this is a very awesome message for those who are honestly not at fault for their partners having left. I am grateful to listen to this. At going on 45, I never been married, but have come to struggles with a boyfriend. I am going to get myself to let go, let God, and if it works out, it does. I watch all these and dont want back... I see what I did wrong. I take accountability for my own wrong actions. I wouldnt even be with him now if I had listened to God from beginning. He showed me every sign he wasnt ok and I kept saying "oh its ok ,he will be ok, he didnt mean that! " I was wrong. It was not my job or place to forgive him . he is GOD's not mine. sometimes as women we think we can forgive a person and they will change. its NOT our place! The opposite can be true as well. One spouse can completely isolate and manipulate other family members to completely isolate the 'prodigal'. That is even more devastating as the 'prodigal' doesn't see (or want) to come back because it appears that others don't care.
What about where I was the prodigal spouse, whom returned, and have remourse and walking in faith for full restoration but my spouse is now scared of trusting and committing again like before even if he still loves me.?
I simply sit back, pray for healing and restoration, lose the fruit of the spirit over my wife?... She left me and 2 young children 3 months now and no contact made with me yet, my heart is broken and I'm lonely,please pray for me,I do love my wife, however she left saying after 14 years it's not working for her...God bless
So my question would be what should I do when an unbelieving spouse leaves because of her selfish desires. Do I follow 1 Corinthians 7:15. I feel stuck but I'll still wait on the Lord and he'll show me in his time what I should do. In times such as these we all need to trust God, lean not on our own unstanding and he'll make our paths straight.
So without knowing, I’ve been a prodigal wife for 15 years. Meaning I didn’t give or receive love due to a lot of childhood trauma. Now my husband is moved out and stated I left him without fight and heart broken. So now I’m a standing prodigal? He left the covenant. I never left. I was trying… wrong ways and wrong timing I know, but I would’ve never left. Please pray for the healing and that he can trust me again now that I’ve been working on myself and actually feel all the love I never did.

i'm sorry, i think you need to focus on the Lord first. there is no bond sanctioned by God between you. perhaps you feel shame because you want to say you've only slept with one person, thus negating the thought of sleeping around, but even sleeping with that one person is fornication. there is no shame in marrying someone else, it will not add nor substract to your previous fornication. it's by God's grace and love that he's spared you from continuing to sin.
Pray (ask) God to imprint on your loved ones mind and heart to bring him close to the Lord. Ask for them to see sin and worldly desires are not the way. Keep turning to God, don't preach directly to your loved one. Look up and pray. “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." Matthew 7:13
