This is an absolute gem of a concert.
Tuning into AIR Sangeet Sammelan was a household tradition in our family
I distinctly recall hearing this on AIR as a student in Jaipur in the late 80's during the concert season. My mother, who had learnt and taught Carnatic music for over three decades, had also tuned in on Delhi B.
A few months later when I returned home for the winter vacation, she brought up the topic of the Sammelan and this particular rendition of Raag Jhinjhoti by Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia.
We were both equally mesmerized and felt that it was an ethereal experience. It was so captivating that we had both dropped whatever we were doing and sat spellbound by the Radio.
Thanks to Prasar Bharati CEO Sh S.S.Vempati for bringing back such fond memories after over three decades.
