Thanks. used this vid to take the filter off and then access the carb on a mountfield s421r. After wiggling and pulling on the working parts then putting it back together, the mower is starting up again.
That was a very detailed explanation of the carburetor, I doubt that i'll ever see one of these in the usa, But it was nice to see the inside of a clean engine for once. Also I watch these videos in the morning when i wake up, And it really helps when you speak slower, Like you did in this video. My brain just can't keep up in the morning.
Another great video Paul. I know that this is for illustration but worth mentioning that people need to be careful not to invalidate warranties by performing own servicing on such a new machine. May be better to leave until the manufacturer's warranty has expired.
Steve Speck That's an excellent point Steve. I wish i'd mentioned it now! Looking at the warranty booklet you have to register it online and have it serviced 4 times in the first 5 years to keep the extended 5 year warranty. I don't suppose many people would do both of those things but I will mention it if they send me another one to review. Great point though Steve.
Great videos mate I had a Tesco’s lawn mower .. It’s got 173cc DG600 engine ..to be honest it’s abused but it stopped working now after 4 years.. I’ve so been watching the vids and it was a carb issue the carb is very similar to the one in your video on the new Mountfield ... So I took your advice and it starts now ... so I treated it to a new plug .. air filter and blade .. thanks again 😀
Not sure of you noted it again. But you said there is no micro switch there is it's the clear spade fitting with the blue ink mark on it just at the right of the carb on your close ups. Great mowers and the carb close up really helps

Hello, I have just bought myself mountfield HW531PD, Used its working ok but i wanted to do a full service on it which i should be able to however the metal deck on that has paint flaked of on one side completly and now is starting to rust at the min its solid so i want to treat and re-paint it for rust. Could you advise me on how to take the engine off and is it ok to be taken off and service the deck of it? mine is 160 CC as opposed to yours engine but very very similar set up
