  • Until the mid-1970’s, rehabilitation played an important role in U.S. prison programs. Those in prison were offered opportunities to develop knowledge and skills. They were also encouraged to address psychological issues such as substance abuse, rage, or trauma, that might impact their return to society. In the years since, however, the punitive aspect of our prison system has been predominant, with guards taking advantage of their positions to inflict pain on prisoners. Jason shares his story about his time as a Deaf prisoner, and offers his thoughts on how to change the system. #deafinprison #deafreturningcitizens #prisonexperience
