I have the same set with a white case. I restored it about a year ago. I replaced all electrolytic capacitors on the main board and resoldered all joints on the main board. It worked ok for a few days, then all kinds of strange tuning issues. I pulled the tuner apart to find nearly all the electrolytic capacitors had leaked out on the tuner board and measured very low on mfds. I recapped the tuner and has been working like a new set since then. If you would have more tuning problems, check the electrolytic capacitors in the tuner module. I was surprised to find how bad they were in my set, but it was used in a nursing home for many years and was on most every day. It was baked very good.
Sheeesh , I remember working on these back when they were only a few years old. If you didn't know any good swear words , you learned them REAL QUICK !!! lol
Totally off topic but many thanks to you. Picked up a Panasonic RS 8185 and your old repair video saved this beauty. Stuck record button only glitch. Thanks for walking me through the fix. Question if you don't mind...how do I construct speaker cables with a 3.5 mm ext speaker out. I've tried to Jerryrig to no avail. Again, thanks for your tutorial. Peace, Andrew
Also watch for small lytics in AGC & Hoz AFC. Often changed the board, the Zenith dist would pick up part of the tab to keep the cost down. Great little sets otherwise. Sold a shit load at Xmas & tons are still out there. LFOD !
I'm in East San Diego for the time being. I'm not currently taking in new work to catch up on backlog. If you want to inbox me do so at vintageavrepair at gmail dot com

Hello, I actually had a question concerning your 1974 RCA television. I have recently obtained an old RCA and I’m having major difficulty with it. It turns on which is a good sign haha but trying to get a signal or anything to come up on the TV is impossible. It also doesn’t help that I can’t seem to find any information on the TV on Google or anything because the model number and serial number have all but faded away. Please help!
@@johnsenchak Why comment on the video when you think something is useless when it's most likely someone's pride and joy, don't you have something better to do then crapping on someone's work?

On those, I think Zenith really meant for the whole board to be swapped out, rather than component level repair.
Pretty looking set, shame about it being so unserviceable.

I'd love to have at least one of these Zenith sets. I have a few 10ish inch sets from this era.

Larry King, do you work on Bang& Olefson turntables.
I do not
This is a cool set!
Hey Jordan, what's up. Haven't seen any new videos lately. Hope everything is well with you bud.
Just no time for the channel. Too much work and dealing with logistics of moving out of state
@JordanPier Really! Moving to another state...which state and why?
@@VinceFelix-ff9cf that's nobody's business but mine.
@JordanPier ...ok, didn't mean to get personal. Sorry about that.
The quality never went in , but the name went on regardless
Hope your doin' OK mate - no vids for a while. Just checking :)
Thanks, man. I'm fine, just blasted with work, life and working out the logistics of moving.
@@JordanPier Haha, all good. Us long time viewers can just get concerned. Hang in there with the move. Cheers!
Sorry, ive been ill for a while, odd mental states.
Glad to see you back.
I have one it is a nice one
A few too many TV vids lately.
Agreed. As soon as I'm unburied from these last few there will be more stereo and antique radio related.
What an unstable set, Crappy presets?.
The complaint is another change all the capacitor video for something that has no value
These types of tv are very popular in the retro gaming community so they have value
You have no value
You're still at it John? Amazing.
