Hi! First of all I have to say, that I absolutely love your videos. Your focus on modern electronic music makes your channel outstanding in my opinion :) May I ask you how you combine the Maag with the Bettermaker Passive EQ? I already have the Maag and think about buying the Bettermaker. Thanks and keeping up that great work!
Great hearing so! Absolutely. So they’re really two different EQ’s. The Maag is used in M/S here through the SPL Gemini, tone wise it’s great for adding sub and top end. The PEQ is a clean pulteq type of EQ, so it’s fantastic for tightening up the low end, and the top end lift sounds outstanding.
I've seen this unit in countless videos, and I never understood what made it good, especially for mastering. I thought in mastering you want ultimate precision, and with only 3-4 usable bells at fixed freqs, I thought this was some kind of inside joke LOL. But now I see that those bells are VERY broad, and affect the whole signal, now it seems very useful especially in mid-side processing. I'd love to see one of your videos where you walk us through your whole chain A-Z and the philosophy of your choices. Keep up the good work, I find your videos very informative and I love your music selection :)
You’re absolutely right! The sub and air bands, especially, are outstanding. If I need to do something super precise, I’ll use another EQ. Great idea on the chain walkthrough!
