I felt Seungkwan's desparation to tell everyone how hard it is to be an idol. With just the hours of practice and lack of sleep which is done during their diet which would last for years and they're not even sure if they'll debut. All their youth they spent training with no assurance of popularity or even stepping on the stage once. Even the most famous idols still have hard times, they can't live with flaw, every move they do are being watched, and the smallest mistake could be their biggest downfall.
I was gonna side with seungkwan, but soogeun really draws me in with his rebuttal 😅. Comedians has a really harsh life considering there are a lot more comedians that were unknown
Living as an idol is like having severe constipation. Restricted, controlled, painful. Living as a comedian on the other hand means you have to deal with the instability of it. No concrete future. Anytime, one can tip off the plate and have no name the second they do. That is why both jobs have their own merits and of course, demerits. No bigger than the other.

I see many comments that say that the life of an idol is difficult, which I don't deny, but in reality I consider that the life of a South Korean comedian is more complicated. Now things are looking up, but before, the Korean entertainment industry was very rigid. The most respected, even now, are movie actors, seen as real stars. Then drama actors: loved by the masses, but not good enough to be movie actors. Although that is changing due to the international rise of Korean dramas, now even respected actors are making dramas/series for streaming platforms. Then the "traditional" singers, not necessarily of traditional music, but singers of ballads, trot, etc., those who write and compose their own lyrics (seen as "artists"). Then there were the idols, who were previously seen as just pretty faces who danced and sang, albeit with a high level of popularity. That opinion is changing now thanks to several idols who showed that they didn't just dance and sing what they were told. In the end, it was left to the comedians, who were seen as the "filler", those who fought for a few minutes on the screen of a variety show in which the guests stole the limelight (guests such as idols, actors, etc. ) and that they did everything for a few laughs. Though things changed over the years thanks to Kang Ho Dong (KHD) and Yoo Jae Suk (YJS). Many will have a bad opinion of KHD, but he was the first non-actor to win a daesang in one of the most important awards in Korea, then came Yoo Jae Suk's winning streak. KHD led a variety show that reached 50% ratings (meaning 1 out of 2 South Koreans watched that show) in which the same members interacted with each other, there weren't many guests or anything (see 2 days 1 night season 1 , one of the best variety shows in Korea). Then YJS had several successful shows and I know it literally earned the respect of all of Korea. I think there was even a controversy about how much comedians made because it seemed like too little. If you find out the history of many comedians, even the most popular ones, you will realize that many of them started young, but didn't reach stardom until they were a little older. Many of them from an environment without many resources or educational level. They were funny people who wanted to dedicate themselves to it, there are no schools or anything like that. Many idols choose to be idols even though they know it won't be easy, but many comedians choose to be because their other options for "survival" aren't very good. The comedians that are seen on shows, youtube, etc., are the ones that have already achieved success. What seems ironic to me is that, at least years ago, in Korea the comedians, despite not being considered the most relevant, were the best known at the general public level and those who made many idols loved by everyone and not only by his fans. Even on various variety shows, actors and singers found it very difficult to be on that kind of show for several episodes. It's tired. Now even actors and singers who already have a certain level of experience enter the world of variety shows to have a longer career, so there are even fewer opportunities for comedians who don't have a background of being an actor, singer, idol or whatever. . So my respects to the Korean comedians.
It’s because Seungkwan filtered the reality it doesn’t sound so bad, if he talked about underrated idols from small companies dark and dirty secrets, he will won, being idol is hard, it’s more than training and diet Edit: I’m not saying that being comedian is easy, I’m just wanna say that there are worse things happened to idols (such as SA & harassment) that Seungkwan can’t say to the public. Don’t only see the successful idols from big companies, If you see ‘failed’ idols, they have to experience even worse things and they probably won’t debut, even if they did, they might have to disband when noone know about them or can’t even perform in any show, they might have to get a ‘sponsorship’, but that also not guaranteed them to be success, there are many known idols not getting paid after years of working. Many stories of ex-trainee/idols who said they have to perform for ‘private’ events, and getting assaulted, but they can’t even do anything because of the contract.

Its nothing new .everyone know kpop dark side. Even company show their dark side in their idol documentary for ex. 9 muses. Soogeun is right too. Only yoo jae suk have many show. But other comedian have small opportunity and hard times. Even soogeun known to public after knowing bros. Even was in this field for decades. Both have hardships
Korean treats comedian lesser than they treat idols, remember when yjs wins daesang, nobody stand up to him. And he's THE YOO JAE SUK. I can't imagine the rest. Being comedian, everyone expect you to be able to jokes anytime, happy anytime and when it's not up to their taste, they're treated less than cockroach
For ppl in the comments saying idol life is harder or SK would obviously win if he talked about the dating ban, i think you haven’t really known much about comedians life either. What i mean is i think this is hard to compare. It’s true that idols started at young age and they are forbidden to do many things. But the fact that comedians had to do everything by themselves when they were young without support, management from the company is just so sad i don’t even know how they made it when they didn’t have anywhere to sleep or anything to eat. Only the very very talented and outstanding comedians can come on TV shows like them now. And comedians have always been treated more badly that idols or singers. If you think your idols are treated badly on variety shows? Bro u don’t even know how the industry treat the comedians
True. I heard in korean industries theres a 'caste' where its like : actor/actress > idol > comedian. Lee kwangsoo prefer to be adress as an actor rather than comedian, eventhough most people know him as a comedian lol 😂
If I was Seungkwan, I would’ve joked about not being able to date or get married whenever I wanted to with whomever I wanted to.. Just saying..would be a good talking point and could bring out some humor with the cast All in all..I have mad respect for both
Each job has it's own difficulties that cannot be compared on 😂 I love that we can see it through this video. I watched them several times because i just love to see it 🤣
Seungkwanieeee isn't trying to make a joke at all here.... He's talking very serious as a rare moment....I can see what he's trying to say without getting in big trouble....
I feel like comparing the difficulties between idol and comedian was not quite fair because soogeun could be more outspoken and also because of the generational difference, I do think although soogeun was joking he had it pretty hard. I wish idols could talk about their difficulties more but sadly contracts must be super restrictive.
I understand this is just for fun and all that but i feel a need to say this. Kpop groups as trainees, particularly SEVENTEEN, have a lot of hard times, what with the lengthy practice sessions they have and all the people monitoring them. Also, SEVENTEEN's company PLEDIS had a really harsh time even trying to debut them because of the lack of money, and there are rumours saying the members had to buy their own ear plugs for shows. Seventeen was a really less known group and they suffered so much both predebut and after debut. There were people who refused to give them a chance cause of their numbers, and even now there are so many haters for no reason. Seungkwan has suffered so much to be where he is now, and the members even said that SEVENTEEN would not be here today if not for his efforts. So next time, think about all that, huh? 😢 (i know comedians have a really hard time too this is just me advocating for Kpop idols and their hardships)
Lee soo geun is the best 😍 i love seungkwan but i have to admit that he can't win lee soo geun coz he is great with words . this is my fav show i always watch this every time I'm stressed
Comedians have a lot of hardship even some are known already. For starters, They truly have no one to manage them. Unless you have connections. They will guest you and be atleast have regular shows. Then, if you are lucky, you might be an actor too. Imagine most idols (but not all) have good life after debut tho it is truly very exhausting. Endorsements, albums, tours, guesting, acting if they are lucky.. But comedians have still no regular guestings even after debut. They might have few projects in a row, then will wait again after that.
There's no way in the first place Seungkwan could win this battle lmaoo Soo geun could tell his story n truth like that and audience still found his story funny cus it's his job as a comedian (turns everything into a funny lines/stories) + not to mention he's been in that industry for so long. But for Seungkwan as an active idol (where smallest mistakes can be ur weakness) ofc he's forbidden to tell the real 'dark' story as an trainee/kpop idol bc it can affect his career n company in the future. So, the topic it's not apple to apple in the first place🤷♀️ P.s. it's not about who could/should win, i'm just talking about the topic that's unfair for one of them
Idols' life is hard but I think comeadians, actors or singers's life is harder because they don't have a company behind them that will promote their works they won't be introduced to people by someone they have to work hard their own and try find a way sometimes even they work hard and be good just because they are not looking good they won't have so much popularity
Life for everyone is filled with hard times and even harder challenges and only a few come out successful. Even though the show only did it for laughs, its important to understand that the person you are talking to or talking about has their own entire life that they live and should be treated with respect and kindness
It is also true that many comedians are still unknown and have their own hard time, but I still believe being idol is hard starting from their trainee era until they really make a debut and become a successful idol, I don't think they have enough time for rest. Even their schedules are too pack for practicing, recording, shooting mv that sometimes untill late night or early morning, promoting their cb, and have a concert tour to entertain fans around the world. Even sometimes they don't have their own privacy and have a chance to date someone because of the fans
Why argue that it's harder as an idol although the whole segment is wrong and useless? No one can compare people's hardships, suffering, pain. It's much more relative. We might put two people and try to assume who's past is more complicated emotionally by their testimonies. Emotionally means: one person had a life full of classical hardships yet they'll tell us they are happy, the other had it all but felt empty inside. It's about our experience... No one needs to be the ultimate victim to claim that they were victamized. It's not a competition, your pain is valid and I wish you well
Either it's serious enough to leave a comment to have a conversation, or it's not serious and you can go on with your day. "Not that serious". The freakin arrogant hypocrisy. What have I been too real for you? lol byebye kiddo
It's serious. Comedian Park Jisun passed away from suicide with her mother. Like the commenter said, we shouldn't compare our struggle. To being empathy might hard, trying to be understanding. Please, if we don't have anything nice to say, just keep it with ourself.
Fyi ,Lee freaking kwangsoo prefer to be adress as an actor rather than comedian, even tho he became famous for his humor and all his jokes, and also soogeun did mention about there are lots of unknown comedians out there even tho they have been in industry for so long, look at saeho it took him almost 20years to be as known as he is now.
There's so many levels of difficulties idols face it's not just about their talents they have to be an all rounder. Comedians have to focus on their talent& their will to keep trying. But the outcome has more layers of success and opportunities for idols compared to Comedians.
Seungkwan know how hard lives as idols and comedians. There is no way our boo going to force win just for this petty argument. He respect his senior just to much but maybe he getting emotional thinking how their live are unfair (both idols and comedian)😅 Both sides have pros and cons but eventually (my opinion) its their choice of living, so they have to go through all that
I believe Mr Lee won base on experience and counter. Most comedians start training as an adult, most idol start training by 14 years. They start struggling from different age and its hard for kids. There is struggling in every section in entertainment industry but the dark side of music/film weighs more than comedy. Even on longevity comedians outlive idols.
I honestly kinda dislike these type of talks, comparing. Both have ups and doens and irs not an apple-to-apple comparison cause they're from different side of entertainment with different living and world conditions
The only country where being a super attractive singer, producer, dancer, tv show cast member, etc is less exclusive than being a comedian. There seem to be no comedy club scenes or comedy-focused shows. All tv shows are melodrama or drama with comedic elements. Pure comedy shows are usually webtoon adaptations.
What he couldn't mention is that a lot of idols live like slaves, I think that's the worst part you have to wake up at 5 am despite practicing till 1 am the previous night, you can't eat what you want you can't say what you want, you gotta be someone different in front of the camera, the company uses you to get the money and you're lucky if you get only 10% of that. Some companies abuse their idols. There are dorms but if I had to share a small room with six people, I'd rather sleep outside. The competition is getting bigger coz everyone is good at everything all of a sudden, in 4th gen, everybody can be a main vocalist, main dancer and lead rapper at least. They're all visuals as well. Comedians suffer as well but they're free, Idols can't date let alone marriage and they are always expected to be perfect, one mistake and your career is over plus they're not safe, saesangs stalking them and haters threatening them. Seungkwan already knows these things but he didn't say anything about it coz he would get in trouble with the company that's a proof of what I said. One last point : what would annoy me as an idol is that I'm here to sing to dance why am i appearing on variety shows and people criticising me for not being funny, that's not my job. The big 3 always push their idols, I felt sorry for Aespa for having to give a speech at the UN, (maybe they liked it I don't know) that would be nerve wrecking to me, I would be under a lot of pressure. Again if I mess up i would receive hate like it was my intention to do that.
What seungkwan means overall idol have difficulties because of agencies.comedian have difficulties because less facility.idol overworked and comedian doesnt have worked.
I lovw kpop But I'm sorry I'm on comedy team...i keep saying "what the heck" and laughing..... I like seventeen & vixx But I'm sorry I'm on soogeun team Comedian team who wanted to be on music show LOL
after soogeun talk abt privilage of a place to sleep, seungkwan should've mentioned the huge debt idol had to pay for that😂 not to mention their training period wasn't ✨free✨
@@zaidirfan8226 no no honey, idol paid all of it after debut. and many of them are in debt after years or even after they disband bcs they are not popular. same case w comedian, that they all only have money if they 'made it' and famous.

Both have hardships
lol, i really thought idol life was harder but man.... lee soo geun won the argument hands down lmao
Just saying..would be a good talking point and could bring out some humor with the cast
All in all..I have mad respect for both
we would have gotten news another day that " boo seungkwan of seventeen said he cant be happy and date cause of his fans" yall know how dirty media is
Pledis does not have a dating ban thou, unlike other agencies Pledis actually encouraged there idols to date, but keep it to themselves.
I DIDNT KNOW SEUNGKWAN CAME AGAIN TO THE SHOWW!! GONNA WATCH IT
There is no way to win over soo geun 😅😅
Yeah, and then when Ravi wanted to help by mentioning no mobile phones, it actually backfired. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
They might have few projects in a row, then will wait again after that.
sheesh, Soo Geun is so strong in this one
Hardships and personal struggles shouldn't be a competition
There's no way in the first place Seungkwan could win this battle lmaoo
Soo geun could tell his story n truth like that and audience still found his story funny cus it's his job as a comedian (turns everything into a funny lines/stories) + not to mention he's been in that industry for so long. But for Seungkwan as an active idol (where smallest mistakes can be ur weakness) ofc he's forbidden to tell the real 'dark' story as an trainee/kpop idol bc it can affect his career n company in the future. So, the topic it's not apple to apple in the first place🤷♀️
P.s. it's not about who could/should win, i'm just talking about the topic that's unfair for one of them
Seungkwan should've said that as trainees, they used to be a lot and not all of them can debut
Same for comedian . Not everyone can become comedian. At least trainee is too young they choose other career easily.
It's sad the fact of knowing they have to had a harder life in orden to make us happy 😢😢 so I want to tell them once "Thank you for being my singer" ❤
Idols' life is hard but I think comeadians, actors or singers's life is harder because they don't have a company behind them that will promote their works they won't be introduced to people by someone they have to work hard their own and try find a way sometimes even they work hard and be good just because they are not looking good they won't have so much popularity
Idols : popular, everyone commenting here can name at least a 100
Comedian: can everyone name at least 5 Korean comedians
Exactly
All the debts they have to pay back once they debut. Not to mention wanting to say so many things but beings restricted and being bound by constract.
Life for everyone is filled with hard times and even harder challenges and only a few come out successful. Even though the show only did it for laughs, its important to understand that the person you are talking to or talking about has their own entire life that they live and should be treated with respect and kindness
seungkwan would’ve won if he didn’t filter the real harsh reality but I guess
Im really admire thier hardships.
"You diet to get healthy"
💀💀💀
They diet to get underweight and become unhealthy
Everyone have hard time we shouldn't judge by our experiences.....but this video haha cracked me up
i really miss seungkwan going to kshow
Seungkwan fighting!!! LOL
Anyway, Seungkwan and the SVT members' hard work are all paid now ㅠㅠ
It is also true that many comedians are still unknown and have their own hard time, but I still believe being idol is hard starting from their trainee era until they really make a debut and become a successful idol, I don't think they have enough time for rest. Even their schedules are too pack for practicing, recording, shooting mv that sometimes untill late night or early morning, promoting their cb, and have a concert tour to entertain fans around the world. Even sometimes they don't have their own privacy and have a chance to date someone because of the fans
Seungkwaaaaan!! Our Boo alwayss doing well 💓
Why argue that it's harder as an idol although the whole segment is wrong and useless?
No one can compare people's hardships, suffering, pain. It's much more relative.
We might put two people and try to assume who's past is more complicated emotionally by their testimonies. Emotionally means: one person had a life full of classical hardships yet they'll tell us they are happy, the other had it all but felt empty inside.
It's about our experience... No one needs to be the ultimate victim to claim that they were victamized. It's not a competition, your pain is valid and I wish you well
honey its not that serious
i love it when people take variety shows seriously
3:08. That drop in laughter 😂😂
Hard because lots of work : Hard because of no work
Two.comedians quarrelling tobe precise 😂❤
There's so many levels of difficulties idols face it's not just about their talents they have to be an all rounder. Comedians have to focus on their talent& their will to keep trying. But the outcome has more layers of success and opportunities for idols compared to Comedians.
Since all of them are entertainer ofc their life is hard. Our life as a commoner is hard to yknow!!!
nah cuz if he'd talk about his old pledis days 😭
4:40 That's so funny 😂😂😂😂
no profession in entertainment undustry can compare to comedian struggle actually
Seungkwan should've brought out that dating ban lol. They won't be able to rebute it xD
They should do a gag where they trade jobs for a week
Lee soo geun 😂
the debate is invalid anyway because boo seungkwan is botha comedian and an idol 😽
they talking about the hard times when they first debut as an idol and comedian..So seungkwan first started as an idol
The only country where being a super attractive singer, producer, dancer, tv show cast member, etc is less exclusive than being a comedian. There seem to be no comedy club scenes or comedy-focused shows. All tv shows are melodrama or drama with comedic elements. Pure comedy shows are usually webtoon adaptations.
good looking seungkwan
Life is harder for idols me thinks.... cause it follows you even if youre famous but comedians can have job security
Hah.. job security. Is there more comedian than idols? So how does that makes sense.
@@BlackSpyda1000 but that is the point im trying to make, theres an influx of idols competing.
you cannot win aganist Soogeun
U cant never won against sugeun in argument 😂😂 i watched njttw he’s hilarious
I thought idol would definitely win but sadly soo geun won this
Lsg mind blown attack
I miss boo sm 🥹
lately Ravi has been looking more and more like Ryan Gosling

Lmaooo
it's harder being an idol as the standards of being an idol is a lottttt more higher these days because of bts
Bruh yall delusional arse think idol life is hard
after soogeun talk abt privilage of a place to sleep, seungkwan should've mentioned the huge debt idol had to pay for that😂 not to mention their training period wasn't ✨free✨
That means for idol they have money.......but for the most comedian they don't have the money to start with. For example like Lee Soo Geun.
@@zaidirfan8226 no no honey, idol paid all of it after debut. and many of them are in debt after years or even after they disband bcs they are not popular. same case w comedian, that they all only have money if they 'made it' and famous.
@@zaidirfan8226 so yes they do have money, but its not theirs :/
If idols done something wrong/crimes,they being cancelled by public in their whole life.their career will end and disappear..meanwhile comedians still can appear in tv show & entertain ppl and get money..for example:this bunch of knowing bro casts🫣
