Vowels in generally separate in long ones and short ones depending in restrictions among themselves and the letters around them. And there are the "double" vowels which sound like one but they are two letters, like oυ that sounds like O in wolf and not like oi in avoid. There is also ει which sounds like double e in deep and not like a in ape... Excuse my small attempt of Greek lesson 😅 ! It's much different from western languages and Erasmic targets to a sensor in the western speaker that actually has nothing to do with Greek in general -older or newer...

I noticed, for example, that the Eta (I don't have greek alphabet, sorry) is pronounced like the e in sleep. I was thought that it sounded more like... the sound doesn't really exist in English. A bit like the first e in wretched. I'm now doubting whether I was thought Erasmic pronunciation or not, lol
