    What a great store, very big and well set out. Amazing choice, I was shocked at the price of that Divinyls CD though. One I have been searching for some time and is usually quite pricey in the UK. They must be going the same way as Book Off with rarer titles! As you say nothing better than finding a rare gem at a good price.

    Yes Richard Marx one of my all time faves this guy is a great writer and great funny person too, does not take himself seriously at all but understands every type of music he is a rocker, when he does shows with his full band they are killer, he did dates here and there with Rick Springfield prior to covid shutdowns then some after they are great together great show and friends. But I love all of Richard's albums, newer stuff too I have no complaints some hidden gems on all those cds, one of his hardest rocking songs is "From the Inside" from his own label release "Emotional Remains" great song and others on that. His latest is 20 songs five of each type of song/genre he has written for, Rock, Country, Pop and ballads great cd, 20 songs sounds long but very well crafted stuff with Rick Springflied having a new 20 song cd a few weeks away (not along genres like this) but just fast quick songs on the order of "Working Class Dog" and "Tao" amazing mix there. As for the pricing it is every where now, a lot of these stores are looking up the rarity of a cd on say amazon or even EBAY (I know book off does this for sure) and then prices accordingly, however I would suggest to anyone trading in stuff, do your own looking prior to selling to used stores because they will still give you a very low price and then jack it up for sure they are in a business.

    Hi Brendon, Glad to see that you picked up Richard Marx. I was a big fan of him in the late '80s and early '90s when I was a teenager. Back then I bought "Rush Street" on cassette and was surprised by how rock it sounded compared to his ballads. My favorite song from that album was "Hazard," which was played on country radio in Los Angeles although it wouldn't be considered a country song. If you haven't checked out Dan Hill, you might like his music, too. He was known for love ballads like "Sometimes When We Touch," but also has a number of rock tunes as well like "Blood in My Veins" and "Pleasure Centre." He's also a singer/songwriter with a similar style as Richard Marx. Enjoy your new music!

    • @BrendonSnyder
      @BrendonSnyder  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hazard was the first song I liked by Marx as well. My sister had the CD and I remember being surprised I liked it. That’s the first album of his that I bought. It just took a while to find used copies of his first two. But I’m really really enjoying them both. So glad I finally broke down and tried them. Oh what I’ve been missing.

    SCW is great 90s southern rock. They rocked back in the day. I own the band's 1993 S/T debut on CD, although I bought it (as part of a 7 CDs for $5 deal at a nearby flea market show) used and scratched. But it still plays well in my car and in my computer CD drive without a single skip. The only SCW CD still in print is their 2nd one Magnolia from 1996, at least last time I checked it was. BTE's Deluxe has a lot of good tracks. Also like the band's 1996 follow-up Friction Baby. I often wonder what Fleetwood Mac would have sounded like had they hired BTE singer/guitarist Kevin Griffin instead of Neil Finn of Crowded House to replace Lindsey B.. Didn't know you were into Third Eye Blind, either. They had some great stuff back in the day, also. Another great 90s band is Spacehog, whose Ziggy/Aladdin-era Bowie influence shows on their 1995 debut Resident Alien. Spacehog frontman Royston Langdon was or is still married to Liv Tyler.

    A couple months ago, I bought RM's Repeat Offender CD at a Goodwill a half-hour from where I live for 99 cents. It was originally priced at $1.99, but the same colour code on the price sticker was half price throughout the entire store on all items with that colour code. That was a bargain, and I too like the hits on the album. "Nothin' You Can Do About It" the album's opening track is a real rocker. That was the last disc I recently bought. Who knows? Maybe Rock Candy will reissue his OOP CDs. Joe Walsh plays lead on "Don't Mean Nothin'" from RM's S/T debut.

      There really aren’t any “Metal” stores in Manhattan. They’ve all closed. The best one would be Generation Records, but the last time I was there which was a couple years ago, they had gotten rid of almost all of their CDs and were going straight vinyl. So I don’t know if it’s that today.

    Lucky you on Earth Quake's 8.5 album for 6 bucks. I wish I could find it at that price. I have seen it no lower than $10, and I don't really want to pay that much for a vinyl record. I honestly don't think it has ever been reissued on CD, though I could be wrong. I too have been looking for that album. I have EQ's 1979 album "Two Years In A Padded Cell" on vinyl which I bought for a buck at a used CD and record store an hour away from where I live, and the vinyl was actually fairly clean. This obscure SF Bay area power pop band's albums are super hard to find, imo.

    • @BrendonSnyder

      Price is all relative. $20 for a CD is not too expensive for me. $50 would be too much. I would prefer them to be less but I can afford it too so I don’t pass them by if I find ones I really want. However this is a new thing with all the prices going up so in the long run it will suck. The stores will eventually price themselves out of the market and will close.

    I think I will wait until either Rock Candy or Wounded Bird reissues JCB's Atlantic back catalog. It seems as if $19 is way too high for a CD, and I honestly don't like his music that much. And I liked Van Zant better when they were an AOR/melodic rock band. You just cannot beat that 1985 S/T album. The two hits from the album ("You've Got To Believe In Love" and "I'm A Fighter") are excellent. They went south (no pun intended) when Donnie and Ronnie teamed up together in the late 90s, although the song "Rage" is a decent track. I could never get into the duo's two Y2K-era country albums, either. I just don't like country music, unless it's country-rock.

      I seriously doubt Rock Candy could get the right to the Jim Carrol Band. It’s been out of print for years and there is a huge demand for it. Someone must be prevent the reissue on CD.

      @@BrendonSnyder That JCB reissue situation sounds just like the two Badlands Atlantic releases. What a darn shame! Keep in mind, I was a latecomer to collecting CDs in 1992-93 at age 18. So I missed out on both artists when their CDs were still in-print back in the day.

      Too much is a relative term. I’m terms of my collection size it’s just right. 👍
