How do you do the opposite? I'd like to be able to open files in separate windows sometimes. They always open in a new tab whether I open in "AutoCAD Application" or "AutoCAD DWG Launcher"

You can just change the SDI variable in AutoCAD to "0".

@@ayajumah yes I had to contact autocad support tho, there was a problem with my autocad launcher, basically standart is to open it with the autocad launcher app instead of the acad.exe also it fixes the multiple application opening issue aand will open it from inside the aplication again.

Whenever I do this my AutoCAD 2023 gives an error and cannot open a single dwg file error: ( windows cannot find the file in c .exe ....... etc) and changing SDI variable to 1 or 0 also ain't helping. In my autoad 2023 it always open separate file and loading takes time . I want files to be open in a single file with separate tabs. Help ? Thx

You might have trouble with multiple Autocad versions. Use Registry Finder to find and replace the missing path to the current acad.exe path. I tried and it worked

Autocad 2021 me do drawing eksath open hai, ek drawing ke upor kuch object select kiya or usi time "ctlr+tab" marke dusre drawing me chala gaya,,, iske baad firse pehle wala drawing me aya to dekha kuch select nahi hai sab cancel ho gaya,, aisa kuyn ho raha hai?? Sirf selection nahi agar kisi command me hai to fir v ek hi probly ho raha hai... Please help

I got the same error but worse. My order of fix is as follows:
1. Stop running Autocad with Adminstrator
2. DWG file, right click open with Autocad DWG launcher
3. SDI = 0
