    I just did this with all of my sports bra's and swimsuits that have loose breast cups set in a pocket. I tac it to the lining and now I can wash it without havin to take the cup out and it doesn't roll up that weird way that they do. It stays where I need it.

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Totally. I hate it when they just put them in the pocket and they get all funky and move around when you wear them or wash them. Just a few simple stitches fixes this. :) Happy sewing and tank you for watching.

      @@SewAnastasiaI forgot to mention another reason why I would like to keep these bras and make them work is because the shoulder straps are very wide, soft and coverage at arm pits and back.

    This was really helpful! I dont have a sewing machine so ii have to alter my clothes with hand sewing.
    I just got this 4th of July top that came too big. I had to take the side in. But i cant stand layers so putting in a built in bra was the best idea.

    That's a great idea. Question: I you actually wanted for the cups to act as a real bra to give you hold not just cover, what can you do? Can you insert a lining with an elastic?

    Thank you... I will be hand sewing a pad into a dress that has no seams. QUESTION-- Would you not secure 4 sides of the pad into the top vs just 2 sides? does that make sense?
    (top- bottom-left side and right side for each pad??)

    • @SewAnastasia

      You can totally secure it at 4 sides. I more you secure it the better it will stay in.

    This is a great video! I would love your advice on something. I'm doing some alterations to a bridesmaid dress I'll be wearing. My dress has decent boning/structure and i think with the right fit/adjustments I could get away with not wearing a bra (which would be great because I hate strapless bras).
    I have a larger bust (about 38E) and I am going to order larger bra inserts than the ones that came with the dress. I am unsure on the best type of inserts to order. I have heard that the molded cups would offer better support for my larger cup size, but will that just add extra fullness? Or would it be better to just order inserts like the ones you used in your video and bring the dress in more to try to keep things in place?

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It sounds like you need to take in the dress and add insets. You need to be supported so I would get ones that cover your full bust.

    Hi I'd like to make a bodycon biob tube dress. I'm a newbie to sewing and have only followed basic patterns. With bodycon/scuba which is the best fabric? Also would I be favourable to line it without making me look larger? I love the idea of placing bust cups in instead of wearing a bra as I'm not well endowed In that area. Sorry for so many questions x

      You can buy the gel bra insert pads & make a casing/ pillowcase to put them into your clothes. Like on a sports bra when they have the removable bust pads.

    I have a dress that is semi-sheer with an opaque lining. If I place cups between the outer layer and the lining they would show through. Do I just sew on the inside of the lining then (the side against my body)?

    • @SewAnastasia

      Great question! You can tack it to the neckline or you could sew them to a piece of ribbon and attach the ribbon at the closest seam. Hope that helps! Thank you for watching.

    Will this work with a smock top? I purchased a dress for my daughter and the smock fabric is irritating her. Of course the square neckline doesn't allow a bra, and strapless bras are a pain.
    There isnt any seam allowances, so I was thinking I could stitch to the elastic smocking?

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can totally do that! You could also sew a strapless bra to the inside of it.

    I just had shoulder surgery and purchased a few bras. After a few hours both breasts are smashed together and popping out the top. These bras were very pricey and are a hassle to return. How can I sew underwire cups into the nylon/spandex bra.

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would sew the cup around the outside of the cup through all layers of the spandex bra. Yes you will see the stitching on the outside of the bra but it shouldn’t show through your clothing. Hope that helps.
