BMW R1150RT seat adjustment that your prostate may thank you for!

  • This is a quick video I wanted to share after researching seat options for my R1150RT. At about the second hour into a ride my frontal groin area goes numb. The stock seat is killing my b***s. Aftermarket seats are expensive so poked around some online forums and this fix was suggested with some positive results reported.

Thank you. Helps a lot. Just got my RT. Now letting my body grow into the bike for a while. Then judicious adjustments if required.

I've done this mod AND added a 1/2" tap washer (about 4mm thick rubber) under each of the front mounting bolts, has made a huge difference. Before I had to ride with the seat in the lowest position which wasn't perfect for my long legs, the difference in comfort is night and day!

I pretty much did the same thing added half in thick riser blocks under the front mount. You can only put seat up to the mid height setting, but honestly I'm almost 6'3" and with seat at highest position it's almost too high. This is a great cheap tweak that makes a significant improvement for comfort.

Just bought one here in England. I am having the same issues. I slide against the tank. Thanks for posting, this seems a good idea.

You don`t need to do that . All you need to do is put a 5mm spacer under each side of the front seat mount (the adjustable one ) and thats stops you sliding into the tank .

Thank you random stranger on the internet! Just added a new bolt and 5mm space washers for $6.00 at Ace Hardware. No sliding forward, no sore crotch area. Did a 4 hour ride and it was great! Saddle should have come out of the factory like this. Added two washers that’s equaled 5mm, and a bolt with an extra 10mm of reach. Perfect! Thank you for the idea. (Did this on a 2002 R1150GS)

I did and it definitely helped so I went one step further and put some half inch risers under the front supports. That's the absolute furthest you can tip the seat back and it has been great. I should do another quick video on that.

I did the same thing... now when I put the back seat on again it doesn't hold the front seat in place anymore. You get a lot of slack. How did you resolve that?
