You can if you just record the audio with your mics still and layer the audio, and it would be an authentic rim click etc You got to do that for cymbals anyways so why not for those things too

its also better to get a two zone trigger, with a single trigger you can't do rim clicks, rimshots, cross sticking

@@s.t.5590+1 of this. I'm doing exactly that. My experience is that rim triggering never works in a realistic way anyway.
Try stuffing your drums with towels to completely mute them and you won’t get a double attack
