They will look pretty and lush. I will use for cut flower. I like the colour. I like the name sea lavender. Sea foam. I’m an artist and the foam looks good from far away. Love em

Wow really!!!! I love this plant! It’s pretty and big and the leaves are so lush and rich green when there’s no flowers to enjoy. Love it! But it requires more space
@@rc1952 yeah the leaves do look very green like lettuce, here they grow everywhere so you get marshlands coverd in them but they like there roots to be in wet ground

I guess it's me. My new house was landscaped with these on both sides of the front walk way. They need a lot of work. It's been so dry in Northern California they flop over, leaves turn brown and looks unkempt. I know it's good for the environment but all I here are bees and it's hard to work on them with a ton of bees buzzing around you.
Oh ok! I might put less of them in then. And control them. Because the guy next door keeps bees. And wanna help him. But don’t want unkempt looking plants. I believe this plant does way better in dappled shade as filler because I have some near tall gate and look lush tidy. So they are better with some cool near them like the sea breeze, dappled tree shade, tall fence.... so they don’t get messy, burnt, untidy. Unfortunately this means you’ll get less flowers in the more shaded parts but lots of lush green leaves- yay! I like that!
@@rc1952 Unfortunately I don't have any shady areas. It's a new development with all new planting. I have other bee loving plants in front so I'm going to remove half of the sea lavender but first remove all of the dead leaves on the remaining ones. I like gardening but controlling them is more than I expected....with the coating of the ground of their dead flowers, big brown dead leaves and it's weird how some of the dead stems are stiff and straight up and others that are full bloom flop over. They need more care than I can really give them. I have to keep some to keep my other half happy. Lol.
@@davidhalley9795 I know exactly what you mean. I think this plant looks best in a large bed, separated from each other with tons of space around each plant in a row. They seem to thrm stand up straight and flower nicely. Don’t worry about the brown and floppy because it does not seem to happen if this plant gets space, right soil conditions and full sun. I’ve seen it looking great but only when it has more underground support and space. So I have them crammed together in a small rashes wooden border and do they like that..... no!!! I have all of the problems you mentioned. So I believe I will try spaces out and just keep the few I have not get more as these babies require a ton of space then they seem to look wonderful. They are a lovely plant. You possibly have the room to sit them in a line and about 3 feet apart. When they start to get spent just leave them go through that cycle and see what happens. Leave them alone. Before I said they like shade but now I’m not so sure.
I would leave them alone and figure out why they flip over. Can you bury bottles fir drip watering beside them and too the bottles up? Will they become tougher over time and look better in a few years as they clump up underneath perhaps. Be patient I think they will get stronger - they seem hardy and will clump and then stand up nicely
They require a deep developed long term tap root to go down to cope well with summer dry. Do not move them much- let them get more established- give them time to strengthen in that spot. They are hardy and will get better and better. Thanks for causing me to do more research for this. I needed to know more. I will plant then wait for mine to get tougher and look better!!!

Now that is has naturalized along the California coast , I refer to it as a ‘new native ‘. It along with many other new arrivals, is here to stay.

My sea lavender was doing great, I clipped the dead flowers off & now my plant looks terrible...foliage is turning brown..help😣
