May God bless you and your family and allow you to continue the great work you're doing. it's rare to see such a wholesome, honest, hard-working, loving family on social media. godspeed!!!!!!!
We had just had a major rain event here in Maine Sunday night and all day Monday. Major flooding, roads closed everywhere, trees down and many many power outages(had strong winds with the rain). What little snow we had is gone and same as you we have no frost yet. It was a very very wet summer and the loggers have been struggling, same as you they certainly depend on winter weather to survive and now this set back. I've been anxious to start cutting my firewood this winter as I rely on the snow and my snowmobile to get that done. Hopefully this pattern changes real soon and we can all get back in the woods! peace
Years ago my property was logged in wet weather and the woods are still a mess. I have much respect for you waiting for some water to leave and the ground to freeze.
i remember the flood story you guys spoke about way back, and the nightmare the boss man went through to save his family. go back and find the video, it's well worth a watch. i think it's called this event changed our lives.
Nice job slipping that commercial in and the camera work was very good . Always good to hear from the Boss and hope things get better soon for you people.
I love Emerald's philosophical thoughtfulness. Emerald (and Jade) are "keepers" as in keep watching these videos, keep liking them, keep subscribing if you haven't already and keep supporting this awesome channel! My pond is high and that is a little disconcerting. That said, thank you Jesus for watering our forests! I would hate to have to do it. Water is heavy 8.34 lbs per gallon! Rain is a miracle if ain't flooding your house!
Not true. The weigh gallon of water is just an estimate. It is an approximate weight. Also, lots of things can change the weight of a gallon of liquid, including temperature change. Not to mention clean water in a gallon container will weigh much less than moving water with things like dirt and debris mixed in. Nonetheless, the weight of a gallon of water is not an exact weight, it is an estimate. It simply means that clean water at room temperature will weight around 8.34lbs, but water in that same container can be drastically different in weight by something as simple as the temperature changing. Also, a gallon is not a universal measurement. Only the U.S. uses the 128oz gallon, and the rest of the world mostly uses the imperial gallon, which is a much bigger measurement. It is basically a gallon plus around 25% more than the U.S. gallon. It is no different than the short ton, because the U.S. and Canada are the only places that use the 2 thousand lb ton, which is the short ton. Other places use the long ton and metric ton, which weight more than 2000lbs. So basically, a gallon in the U.S. will weigh in the 8lb range, but elsewhere a gallon will weigh in the 10 lb range.
Emerald and Jade here in Far North Queensland Australia Cyclone Jasper caused big floods. Barron River which flows from the Atherton Tablelands to the coast at Cairns was a one point was at a height of 13 meters of water before the Barron River Falls at Kuranda.Up stream at Mareeba about 40inches of rain fell over about 6 days.
Yep! A very unusual winter beginning here also in Eastern Québec. 4 monday 's in a row with huge melting snowfalls, electricity interruptions. Followed by freezing temperatures, then taw. And yesterday that massive rain fall, wow! All the axes chainsaws, mills, logging are at halt. So we do understand your situation.
Leaving us laughing - I got a chuckle out of the last minute hat trick - what a cool way to sell a hat! A very witty video ending, indeed!!!! :) Good luck in achieving dryness!!!
I really enjoy your videos ladies you are two of the most responsible hard working young people I've seen! Your dad is what I call a realistic environmentalist, I wish there were more of him in this world. God bless, Dale
Sorry about the flooding. I have been watching your videos for awhile, and your dad makes logging look easier with modern equipment when conditions are good. Just watched a TH-cam video with an Amish (Titus Morris Extras) using horses to pull the logs and an episode of Out of Woods the showed mules pulling the logs.
Hi, @Emerald! I know the smell you're referring to on the river. My former house in Owego, NY was flooded by the Susquehanna river in 2011 also. Fortunately, I got it re-built like new afterward. I'm sorry to hear that your house, too, was flooded in 2011. I really enjoy your videos.
I never thought much about the loggers with this warm weather. I have been somewhat enjoying it but it definitely was muddy when I was working with my new Eastonmade woodsplitter. Praying for better weather for you guys.
My grandparents lived near a river back in the 90's. They got so much rain that summer that the river went from about 30 yds wide to about 600 yds wide. It rose probably 60+ feet up the bank. Sort of exciting to watch, but devastating when you realize the damage it was causing people.
We've had 3 major storms this year, and it was very hard for loggers to be in the woods at all this year. So the end result is that it was hard to get wood and it was very expensive when you were able to find some. Last night and today, we had over 5" of rain and warm temps, so lots of snow melt as well. So tonight, roads and bridges across the area have a lot of damage and many roads are unpassable. Hope that your weather changes quickly, Merry Christmas!
This is totally true at my ranch at this time of the year. I live in the same general part of the country and the sun isn't drying and the plants aren't sucking up the water by their roots at this time of year, so once an area of ground gets saturated, if it is a place the cattle use frequently, they turn it to mush, and only a freeze will harden things back up.
We're in the same boat in Western New York. This winter has been too Spring like. Hopefully we'll get cold enough weather to freeze soon. Four days in the woods over the last month hurts. Good luck to you all.
Enjoyed the video. Was a tough day on the municipal roads a lil north of you too. 3+” of rain overnight. We had several sluice pipes that clogged and wouldn’t flush out. I’ll have to replace them, but have no dry material to back fill them with. Gonna be soft and ugly for a while, I’m sure you know the struggles too. Stay well LCLY.
I lived through a flood just north of there (Tioga in PA and Chemung County in NY) and that smell is something you never forget. The mud was a foot deep in spots after the water receded...
Hi Emerald, Jade and Dad. The freeze will be coming soon. I just hope winter doesn't drag into the spring but with this late start it probably will. Mother Nature just does her thing and we have to go along for the ride. I know what you mean about that smell Emerald, the smell that brings me back to when I had teeth is roasted corn and pork steaks. Just trying to put a smile on you all's face as I still have one tooth. You all have a wonderful evening. Great video, thank you for taking the time.
That rain was no joke. I drove through it all day 🚛 When I got to Leola at about midnight, it was raining so hard, it literally looked like I was driving through a car wash.
