funny as hell only old people get on those cruises, most likely the reason why the rooms are set up so comfortably, I wonder why the casino wasnt bigger😂😂
We have cruised with HAL many times and it is not always "Old People" I'm betting that a New England cruise is not high on the wish list of a younger cruiser (although I'm not ruling it out personally). We have cruised Polynesia, Norway, Caribbean (3, soon to be 4 times), Alaska and the Adriatic/Mediterranean with HAL, some of these with our kids who were in their late teens, early 20's at the time and they really enjoyed it. We really enjoy the atmosphere on the ships, the service and the food. I will say that the entertainment is a bit 2nd tier at times but overall pretty good.
Thanks for specifying that! It’s good point that the specific type of cruise would be appealing to a different age category. It didn’t affect how much we liked the cruise (too much, besides the heat), so we’d definitely do them again for another destination. 👍🏻
A fun little change from your usual content. I just couldn’t help but notice, that it’s like a very nicely appointed retirement home on that ship. You’re the youngest person by several decades, at least.
Holland does skew older, depending on which cruise you choose (Alaska and this New England cruise for sure, but the beach / sun locations are less so.) But it's not a bad thing - the advantage is that the cruise is low key, kinda upscale and super relaxing. I happen to prefer that sometimes. If I was looking to really party, with water slides, all night dancing etc, I would pick another cruise line.
Well, the funny thing is, my wife and I really aren't partiers either but we didnt expect it to be sooooo much older. To the point where we couldnt really even enjoy the shows and delays getting to our destinations. I can see that Alaska and New England leaning that way since the tropical destintions are probably more well rounded for everyone and more desired.
Thanks for this! My mother and I are going on our first HAL (this route) in August for my 45th birthday. We had a sneaking suspicion that I might be one of the younger end of the spectrum, but as an introvert, the slower pace might be more my speed since it'll be a late summer vacation.
Glad you got value out of this! We did expect it to be slightly slower too but some points were realllllllyyyy slllooowwwww... 😂😂😂 Just keep in mind that the first stop in Maine is a non-port harbor so they need to tender you on small boats. You will want to get to the meeting area early to try and get on some of the first boats. We waiting too long and barely had time in Maine.
@@CaffeineMan1 I saw that, which might make it easier to decide which location we schedule our excursion on with the CL. Thanks again. Sending the series of videos to Mom so we can start planning!
I never thought of it, but yeah, that sounds more accurate. Only 1 stop in New England, the rest are in Canada. I think they market it as a New England cruise so people can see the foliage on New England. I mean...who wants to go on a Canadian Cruise 😂😂😂
Hubby and I are looking forward to the Boston to Montreal on board the MS Volendam this summer. Since hubby comes from Quebec City and has dragged me all over, up hills and stairs, etc. we are likely going to make it a relaxing day. We even get to celebrate our 39th anniversary the first night (Pinnacle Grill already booked).
Idk why but I have the mental image of Caffiene Man cracking open an energy drink on the deck of the ship. Edit: the cans hidden in the luggage got me lol
Caffeine Man you literally made this feel like a BBC or TLC tour guide! Very impressive! Caffeine Man worlds most illusive escape artist! 😂 AND you smuggled on contraband! 🤤🤣
Thanks so much for this! We are leaving for the same cruise in 16 days. Hoping the temp in our room cools down. We are very hot natured and also travel with fans.
Good luck!! If it seems hot on the first day I recommend letting them know asap. They keep a record of it so if you complain a few times they may even switch your room if they can’t adjust it to the right temperature. Travel with a fan? Very smart! I will have to remember that. Enjoy!!
Honestly, that might be preferred for married couples who don't want tons of little kids running around or 20 somethings getting hammered until 3-4AM.@@CaffeineMan1
@CaffeineMan I worked on Princess cruises and it was a mix of ages, food was spectacular, and since I was considered also a passenger (I taught paid photoshop workshops for guests), I disembarked everyt ime we docked and could tour the cities. Anyways, do you know whats going on w/ Ghost Sour Pink Lemonade? I've been wanting to try it since you reviewed it (early August?) and still have not seen it ANYWHERE. I went to check ordering on Amazon, and they want $100 for it from the official Ghost page?? ($20 for other flavors!) Is it recalled? Sold out? Discontinued?? What's going on my brother.. do you have an insider scoop my caffeinated compadre?
Sorry to hear you can't find the Ghost. I havent heard of any issues with it selling out. I know GNC should carry it, as they were the first store to carry it.
WOW this was really cool. You really did a great job filming/making this video for us. This looks like it would be really fun to go on. This brought back some memories of the old TV show The Love Boat where they were on that big cruise ship. That I think would have been really fun to have been able to be on. I just knew there was no way you could go on this cruise and not have some energy drinks with you. When I go on vacation, I always have to bring a bunch of energy drinks to have. Just wondering but did you notice anywhere on the cruise ship that was selling any kind of energy drinks at all. I figured on a big cruise ship like this there had to be somewhere on there you could buy them at.
The only energy drinks they have on the ship are Red Bull Original and Sugar Free.... and at a hefty price increase! Which is why I knew I needed to smuggle some on with me, LOL!
The Shops on the ship? Sorry about that. I rarely stop at any of the shops since they tend to be so expensive. I didnt think many people would be interested in those. What do you like about the shops? Perhaps I am missing something in general that I didnt know about.
I promise to check them out on my next cruise! With allllllllll the time I seem to have on the ship, it couldnt hurt to spend some of it browsing the stores.
@@CaffeineMan1 aww thank you! I’m glad I found your channel. I’m looking at Carnival 🎡 the new island Celebration Key for my next cruise. It looks really beautiful and fun! 🤩
I'll have to look that one up! We've done several different Cruise (NCL, MSN, Holland America and Carnival). We werent overly impressed with Carnival but maybe we got an old ship. Glad you like the channel. I don't do much travel (obviously) but glad you like what I do have.
Most of the cruise we have gone one, to be honest, have been free cruises from a casino. The choices this time were Holland America and Princess. We'd love to try Royal so maybe we will have to pay up!
funny as hell only old people get on those cruises, most likely the reason why the rooms are set up so comfortably, I wonder why the casino wasnt bigger😂😂
For a semi-small casino, it wasnt overly full so Im guessing it was the right size!

Have never been unhappy or uncomfortable on a Holland America ship. Crews are professional and kind. Service is impeccable.
