Embracing that professional orchestral performances don't always have to be super serious and formal. Music is meant to be enjoyed and the DNSO reflects that sentiment beautifully.
I don't know why they decided to change it for the update in the 1990s. I think the change was necessary for the scenes of celebration across the galaxy. Was it George Lucas' idea or John Williams' decision?
@@thudthud5423 as an intro to this act, the presenter said something like "some of us doesn't forget George" and he's one of Denmark's biggest nerds. So I think it was George's idea, just like he changed it so Han didn't shot first
Let's slow down for a minute, and mention the great work of the *recording, mixing and mastering engineers* who brought this wonder to life, so we, the people could experience such a masterpiece.
I'm a live audio engineer and we have one shot to capture the performance as well and as complete as we can in the space and environment that we're given. @@davidleavitt835 Yub Nub feels very....I dunno...dated. Victory Celebration feels timeless and is certainly a better montage song for the shots in the special edition. Can't imagine seeing Coruscant with Yub Nub playing lol. I do love Yub Nub though.

the new victory celebration isnt new. they filmed it back then but couldnt use it cause lucas didnt have the tecnology to but now that he did he used it and its the true ending
Why make this comment? To spoil the new version for people?!? I grew up in a Communist country, was tortured by Communist nurses in a children´s spa, then the revolution came and the American movies. And the glorious celebration of freedom at the end of the Return of the Jedi. I always cry when I hear the new version, because it hints at the painful memories of lack of freedom - something I experienced very much first-hand. A victory isn´t just victorious. It´s also being exhausted and healing.
Brings tears to my eyes. It brought back memories of when I was a child going to the cinema by myself for the very first time to see Return of the Jedi on a Saturday morning matinee. Such a magical moment that I will cherish forever. Going back to class on Monday after knowing most of my buddies haven't seen it yet because the only cinema in town was sold out for the entire two weeks from the premier.
The Danish National Symphony and the Boston Pops Orchestra have to be the the best..... kings and queens of orchestras! Love this! Masters, this orchestra is!
Leave it to Williams to make an absolute banger for the same scene TWICE. Love this version of the finale, and I loved the absolute joy transmitted by this presentation. Great job as always :D
This concert was the best I've ever experienced - and not just due to cultural starvation because of COVID-19. I hope Galaxsymphony will return, even as a rerun, I'll be there!!!
I had the luck to see Episode 4, in the concert house, with the orchestra playing live, as the movie was playing... You have to experience it, it was awesome!
You are so amazing that I could feel the Force coming from your music.😊 Thank you and the magnificent John Williams for all the emotions that his music evokes over and over again. 👏👏👏

Of all the performances of Victory Celebration, save the LSO's original, this is the most joyful version I've ever heard. The combination of this and New Hope's finale is perfect.
