If your OS version is higher than the one shown like: 10.0.25398.4908. It's likely a beta firmware as being part of the Xbox Insider program. If you leave the program and update it should return you to the correct version.

Thanks for the info. I wanted to ask about the DNS, as when I put it in (as primary and secondary) then go back to check connection, it says all good instead of the message about not resolving xbox server names. Do you know any reasons for this? I'm on IPv4.
guys, if you want to see what version you’re updating to: unplug ethernet while downloading the update, the latest version will say “target os” on the download failed screen. if its too high, you can safely stop the download and stay on a lower version

Doesn't really matter because if you are on a lower firmware than 4478, you won't be able to download the Game Script app to perform the exploit. If you update past 4478 to get the Game Script app, then you are no longer on an exploitable firmware any longer. There really isn't any risk in updating to the latest firmware because of this. Once Microsoft updates the firmware past 4478, it will be impossible to jailbreak the console for possibly another 11 years if you haven't already done what was explained in the video. Luckily it seems like Microsoft isn't as good at securing their Xbox OS in emergency situations since it's been over 24 hours since this video posted & the proof of concept being posted on github and the current firmware is still 4478. If this had happened to Sony, I almost feel positive that it would've been patched within 4 hours. The longer Microsoft waits, the larger the Xbox One/Series homebrew community will grow.

@@vekash100if you've not used it in a while then there is no harm in updating for the exploit. If it doesn't turn into something that's fine you don't play it anyway. If it does turn into something, you're setup and won't have missed out.

@@vekash100 For the minute I would hold steady at this point. I imagine in some time it will become more streamlined and user friendly. There likely isn't much developed for Xbox one at this time for you to play around with. If you've done the network steps hold steady and give it a couple more weeks/months. This was more so a call to urgently get your Xbox setup before Microsoft resolve it, as they tend to be very quick with security on their consoles.

I recommend downloading (quickly) any "offline" games you own to play while console is offline, cause you won't have access to the Library once you go offline. 🍻

I can't find the game script app on the store
The DNS settings didn't block it on my network. But since this exploit doesn't look like a full jailbreak, and all my video streaming apps are on it my xbox, I just disabled automatic updates. Hopefully I can still watch TV and not have to worry about a firmware update being installed.
Is "Notepad T" another alternative to use with usb drive for the txt files instead of rubberducky?
From what I read earlier this will work for Series X/S as well. Also, can't you just get the offline update?
But you need to get a specific app, which presumably requires you to be online, which requires you to be on latest firmware. That's just my guess from watching the video once.

OSU1,2,3 usb offline firmware updates why wouldn't this be possible if prepared for ahead of time can you not target specific firmware revisions.. if not how does it even work. you would think it would just contain the most recent firmware at any given moment. especially if it works offline ?

I changed both my dns to 127.0.0.1 but my xbox still goes online I believe its due to the “extra” dns values below the modified settings:

I did all you said in video and it still says its online and good!
So I forgot my wireless connection and did it on wired and the sane thing! So I disconnected the ethernet cable, and went offline, problem solved for now! I also connected a usb keyboard and i was able to enter values on the game script program!
I don't think he's saying you can't enter text via keyboard, but rather that it's a lot of typing to do and something like the rubber ducky will let you cut and paste....my guess anyway

Nope, we literally probably only have today to prep our Xbox Ones for this exploit. Any Xbox One not on firmware 10.0.25398.4478 that hasn't downloaded the Game Script app and loaded it up can't do this exploit. As soon as 10.0.25398.4478 gets updated, you will not be able to download the Game Script app any longer and the exploit window has closed. It's now or never.
This video already worthless. We can already play other console game with emulator from dev mode, there is no point to "jailbreak" the xbox. This video is just waste of time.

You can try but you NEED to get Game Script and run it one time to ensure you can Run it offline
If your console version is higher leave developer program and close account then it will ask to update

Another suggestion would be if you have access to your router settings, go in and block the Xbox within the router. For example I own a linksys router and I put parental controls on my Xbox blocking it from accessing the internet.

I switched to Mobile hotspot and it works. I read turn ipv6 off on your router but I can't access my settings.
Yeah that is weird, I changed both primary and secondary to 127.0.0.1, tested and no connectivity, but just in case went wired only and pulled the plug
If this exploit somehow enables running OG Xbox games using One/Series emulation then it might be worth it. Otherwise I don't see much point in it when you can have official dev mode on Xbox with which you can run all the retro games ande even 360 ones

ughh I use my xbox to watch netflix, so disconnecting from the internet might not work for me. Would love to see if we can use this to modify the virtual machine settings for the backward compatible xbox 360 games.

I had an issue at first, but it eventually downloaded. It was stuck on 0% for ages. My console is on 10.0.25398.4908, so might already be too late. Although I think it might be something to do with the Xbox Insider
I had to reboot and then try again and it just installed for me

Regarding setting a console as the home console...
I have two consoles and one XBOX Live Account/Gamertag - How crucial is that step and will I be able to achieve the exploit with both consoles?
Could I set one console as my home console then take it offline as per the instructions, and then set the other as the home console and take it offline as per the instructions, to exploit both, or would it cause a conflict when the first one (or both) go back online?
I believe so. I guess the point for making it home is to get license for the app. Once done you can transfer it. Make sure the consoles offline when doing so. Or you can create another profile for the other console as well.
That makes sense, cheers. I doubt there'd be any conflict or error by setting one console as the Home Console and taking it offline and then doing the other, surely the console info of last one set would be stored and it would all sync accordingly once online so only the last one would keep the setting and the others would drop it.
Perhaps in the meantime while offline, the exploit script would work but who knows what happens with the exploit once back online and dropped as a Home Console...
I've done a bit more research and I'm not going to bother as it's not a jailbreak, it's only an exploit to access Developer Mode functionality without purchasing/activating Developer Mode and won't circumvent any existing Developer Mode limitations.
I'd rather keep my consoles online and activate Developer Mode the intended way if I ever wanted to use it, rather than run scripts on my consoles for no further gain.

I've got a hotspot from my phone connected to the Xbox.
I've set the loopback DNS and it blocks network access. I didn't go into offline mode just yet.
I installed the Xbox app earlier and set it up, and was able to paste text I had copied from my phone browser using the keyboard option there into a the search field at the top of Xbox home.
I don't know how to use Game Script so wasn't able to paste in there.
Anyone have any idea if this is a valid option for the virtual keyboard or will we need to be fully in offline mode?

Random question if anyone knows the answer, if I have an one X which is set home and offline it when I setup the series X that my mate just sold me and I set that up as "home" will the offline one X remain set as home if it's not connected to the internet after I offline it?
Since I've just set this up and I have the Series I've not set up yet I don't want to break this setting by registering the Series as home and offlining that as well, since all the games I have a discs anyway so I don't think I'll need to pull licences every 30 days like online games.
I know Playstations let you stay offline regardless but they also let you registers PS3 / 4 and 5s on the same account which Xbox doesn't let you do.

Like I didn't know if the One needed to be online when I registed the Series as home so could remove that flag on the account.

I think the only thing i would be excited for would be be potentially unlocking the 360/OG xbox emulator to play other games.
As YOURGRANDMA says, The OG Xbox and Xbox 360 emulator may make it absolutely worth it along with far better media player capabilities (compared to an RGHed 360) and access to the X1 library (which actually is pretty big). With that said though, if it turns out that the emulators aren't up to snuff for whatever reason, then yeah, an X1 is still going to get run over by an RGHed 360.

For the DNS issue I had to disable LAN IPv6 on my router so it didnt get a IPv6 address.

This is why you should’ve stayed silent. Now they're going to patch this before it can go anywhere, and Lord knows they’re probably gonna use a few more tactics to try and force people to stay online as opposed to being able to actually use their consoles. Do you want Xbox to just be a brick forever collecting dust in a closet? Or do you want someone to actually be able to make it useful?
