    You really have inspired me to have a go at building my own layout! Peter, mate, you can be so big on TH-cam with your talent for tutorials.

    An impressive looking bridge and it seemed to go together well. It looks like a quality kit. I’m looking forward to the time lapse and the painting of it. Thanks for showing us how to do it.

    Nice video Peter, Walthers does make some very nice bridge kits. When got back into the hobby in 2015 first two kits I built were the single track arched truss and a straight truss bridge. The way the kits go together helped me get back to the hobby smoothly without fit complaints.
    Thanks for sharing, Cary

    I noticed the Micro Engineering steel viaduct, just received mine in the mail today. Difference is mine is n scale and I'll be building it on a curve. Keep having fun, Chris

      All the trestles on this layout will also be built on curves.

      As I said in the comment at the end, I plan on building several of the bridges for this railroad and then painting them as one batch.

    These are nice bridge. Somewhat a pain to put together sometimes but end result is very nice

    • @mpeterll
      @mpeterll  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually I didn't think of it as being a pain at all. Every piece fitted perfectly. There ware just a lot of them, that's all.

  • @riff2072
    @riff2072 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am sure that you all now this but if you were to make a mistake with the top plates or another part of the kit, just add some flat sheet styrene around the mistake as if it was added to the bridge for a repair. Do it on both sides for the bridge. If anyone askes just tell them "it's character."

    Any thoughts on painting either all the parts or subassemblies before final assembly?

    • @mpeterll
      @mpeterll  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes that can be done, and I have done it in the past. On a model like this, painting sub-assemblies would gain nothing as the paint still wouldn't get inside the lattice girders. The best way would be to spray everything flat black while still on the sprue, but then the paint will hide the part numbers and must be scraped off the gluing surfaces before assembly. There are pros and cons either way and each case is different. In most cases, I paint sub-assemblies before adding parts of another color.

    Hi Peter, I enjoyed both videos, thank you. What camera did you use for the sped up action in the other video?

  • @johntuttle5045
    @johntuttle5045 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Excellent video ! I have just purchased the single track version. Question: Do you think there needs to be any steel rod reinforcement on the bottom of the bridge? I have a $1,200 passenger train that will cross this bridge with a drop of 22 inches to the bottom of the river valley.

    • @mpeterll
      @mpeterll  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no experience with the single track version, but if it's anything like this one and you assemble it properly it will be more than strong enough for even a solid gold passenger train.

    • @johntuttle5045
      @johntuttle5045 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mpeterll Thanks for the reply. I think my single track version will be less worrisome as only have the weight of one engine/train on it. Looks like I selected the same set of Walthers and ME bridges as you have for this layout. I am looking forward to seeing your final painted bridge.

      It's actually a pretty easy kit to build.

  • @VR-ym8ys
    @VR-ym8ys 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't get it. Don't your clients want to do anything by themselves? Building these accessories is part of the fun!

    • @mpeterll
      @mpeterll  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are many reasons why people hire others to do things. Lack of time is often a major factor so people must choose what parts they want to do themselves and what to contract out. In this case, the client will be doing most of the scenery and structures himself but wants the bridges installed so he doesn't have cut out and replace track to install them later.
