    Nice Job! The Jr is a great modding platform. I gave mine an "Evo" cosmetic makeover but kept all the electronics standard (I like the Quantums!). I thinned and reprofiled the back of the neck to match my MIJ Jem and scalloped frtes 21-24. New scratchplate & back plate. Biggest improvement to the sound was adding a 33mm Brass Block to the Trem. I highly recommend that. The Jr sustains 30% longer that my MIJ now..

    • @Dagonhills
      @Dagonhills  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like you did some great mods. Scalloping the fretboard is way above my skill but must be awesome. The quantums are nice. Where did you get the brass block? Thanks for your great comment.

    • @ThePedroDB
      @ThePedroDB 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Dagonhills Scalloping isn't as tricky as you might think. Just use a round file and then a pencil (or screwdriver shaft) wrapped in successive fine grades of sandpaper. Just don't go deeper than approx halfway to the side dot marker.
      I got my Brass Block from a UK eBay Seller. Might be easier & cheaper for you to get from the US. Any 34mm block designed for a Floyd Rose should suit you. Happy Shopping and Good Luck!

    i have the white one as well. I loved modifying or upgrading it. I put on a black tortoise pickguard, black German Floyd, w/ the nut, and I had black locking tuners so I threw those on there as well. I also had some extra Dimarzio's laying around, so I put in a SD3 in the bridge, a Paul Gilbert injector in the Mid and an Evo in the neck. I sounds amazing. I'm thinking about getting the yellow one now.. Been itchin' to get a guitar to modify again...

    • @Dagonhills
      @Dagonhills  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds awesome, I put a black pearl pickguard on my silver tele and it looks so cool. Modifying can be addictive, I've done a few rewirings with new pots and pickups, sometimes even minor things but it makes the guitar feel like mine. A yellow one would look great. Take care.

  • @paulyoung4781
    @paulyoung4781 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have same one buddy,and I have just gave it some love it all jem jr needs,I leveled the frets and crowned them all,polished them oil fret board came up bloody great can get really low action like I could go low E 1.5mm if I wanted but I set it 2mm as I prefer that for my preference high E 1.4mm absolutely brilliant kneck is dead straight no need to play about with it,,pickups all I hear is people moaning about them but I think there ok for now but I want to upgrade to Seymour Duncan pickups as I like black winter ones as it's my preference again but quantum pickups are really ok to be fair! They sound very much good for ibenez factory pickups,,the tremelo system is cheap yes! But it's ok to get u going,if u get ur guitar in tune right new strings on obviously stretch them very good tune it up stretch them repeat until it stays in tune,lock it down tight not to tight though! And the trem definitely stays in tune after all the dive bombs I really killed it really destroyed it and still it was in tune,but I will upgrade to the gotoh 1996te as I have heard there better solid than OFR! Get a good amp i have Marshall code 50 for in house and it will sound a great guitar why people moan i dont no nothing wrong with jem jr for the price u pay for it mahogany boady ect cant complain i love mahogany great tone so warm and rich

    • @Dagonhills
      @Dagonhills  ปีที่แล้ว

      I went a little crazy on the upgrades but it was a fun project. One guy said to buy a brass block for the tremolo but it's probably better just to buy a better quality one as over time I hear this one wears out. I don't play with tremolo, I usually like hardtails. I blocked my Strat. I have a Marshall DSL40 but also a Code 50, and I use that one for my recordings as it is so versatile. I set it up with all different sounds and I'm good to go. Take care.

    • @Dagonhills
      @Dagonhills  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I'm not sure about the middle single coil but I read that the neck and bridge are 15k and 18k respectively, and have ceramic magnets. The middle has an Alnico magnet. They are called Quantums made by Ibanez in Indonesia, never heard another name. Take care.

    • @joare76
      @joare76 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Had to ask as I just acquired a 2015 Jem Jr with two Ibanez Quantum humbuckers - but those are two neck pickup models (3PUQMN4 and 3PUQMS2) measuring at ~7.3k, and with ceramic magnets. YMMV I guess... (Middle single coil measured 5.1k BTW.)

  • @paulyoung4781

    Just quick question,if changing pickups would it be worth while changing the pods too buddy I really have no idea

    • @Dagonhills
      @Dagonhills  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are changing the pickups I think it's best to replace the pots too. You can buy high quality ones that will last and perform better for a super long time. They aren't too expensive. I also replace the wire with quality wire. On my P bass it had mini pots that just fell apart from being old, never played it as much as my guitars. The new pots have a great feel too.

    • @Dagonhills
      @Dagonhills  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@paulyoung4781 I used CTS pots, they are nice quality and not too expensive, for the Jem they are probably metric size otherwise they won't fit in the pickguard holes. 500k are for humbuckers, and the shafts shouldn't be the long ones. They can be found all over online. I kept the same switch as a replacement was harder to find. There is an Ibanez only parts guy online, I can't remember the name but if you search his site should come up. Take care.
