Big shouts to the OG's that have been down with this channel since day one, I appreciate you all!
If you think about it though, the slightly darker suede and the now darker "copper" plastic piece are perfect hits as a retro of the original release. Copper gets darker and ages over time, a light colored suede or leather is going to darken with age as well. I think these changes were done intentionally as a homage to it being the "same shoe 10 years later".
So hyped these are getting a released again! I wasn't into sneakers when the C-Notes originally dropped, so I'm excited to grab them soon!

I remember watching that original video !! I still have my original pair from 2013. New balance was on a roll that year they had the Benjamins and the Hypercats as well.

Just copped my first pair of balances. These caught my eyes as soon I saw them, didn’t hesitate. Wonder if they are true to to size 🤔😅

When I think of New Balance, I automatically think of you, foamer and heskicks aka the pioneers of new balance TH-camrs. I would even throw in yoanty and tblake even tho they’re not heavy in the game anymore

I have some really nice made in USA 998 age of Exploration pair in green. I found em in Burlington for like 25 bucks ages ago. I rock em around the holidays every year.

just copped on the Concepts website, so excited for then to come in!! I was initially a little bummed the toned down the hit of copper, but I actually think they made a good choice as the deeper brown makes it more wearable and sleek
Just copped as as well fire pair i can’t wait i missed em 10 years ago regretting not buying them and they soared to $800 a pair in my size so you know i grabbed em this time

How did these fit? TTS or 0.5 size down?
I also have the OG pair and have to be honest. It's just not the same shoe. Colors are off, I personally do not like the new sole they are using (I get it maybe they don't have the old molds) but it gives it a designer shoe feel which I do not like (personal preference) and the concepts branding just wasn't needed. But maybe I'm just old money, pun intended lol.

These are all facts
You can roll you ankle real easy in those older pairs, the update helps that, and the color being slightly different doesn't mean they're "off" imo. But yes even with all that said... we both old money homie
@@Eddiewinkicks Eddie, roll your ankles real easy? I'm not playing any pick up games in some 998's lol. I have a ton of older 998's and never had any issues. In terms of color we can agree to disagree. Love the content as always my dude.
I have to agree, the midsole isn’t as thick on the newer pairs and I’m not liking it. I have 6 pairs of 998s, two of them being the Teddy Santis Hairy Suede and the Core Greys. You can clearly see they’re using a thinner midsole forefoot wedge and it just doesn’t hit the same.
Eddy’s pair at least looks somewhat close to the original thickness but I don’t trust NB right with their quality control because I’ve seen some newer 998s with thick forefoot wedges and most (like mine ) very thin…basically 997 thin.
Forgot what time they were releasing online and checked the app thinking it was already sold out but happy to see my size still available and copped!!! 🎉

I love seeing the clip of the review from 10 years ago. Reminds me of my first review that got any attention which was almost 3 years ago on the OG Forum 84 high. That's the video I feel that got the channel off the ground. hopefully after a decade of doing it I can be near your level of expertise. Regardless, I'm gonna keep grinding! I just got 10k subs! awesome pair, definitely in my top 5 998s. personal favorite is the national parks m998bt, the us colors, the laces, the baseball glove leather hit!

Eddie for the "Win"...These are so clean. I got the email notification from concpts the other day about these. I couldn't stop looking at the pics. Plus it's VERY RARE for New balance to re-release a sneaker from the past. Anyone that's been in this game for years should know New Balance isn't nice like Nike/Jordan brand and restock shoes from 3 to 5 years ago lol. Once it's gone, it's really gone. Good vid Eddie!

Awesome pair! Love me some NBs, but $220? Good Lawd.. that's a lot of money for some NBs.. 😂 all respects tho 🙏🏽 just not a fan of the pointed style toe box. I'm more of the 574s, or more on the rounded to square toe box. Idk, I guess it depends 🤷🏽♂️

They are literally called C-Notes as in a c note on each foot plus $20 for laces….worth every penny! These are bangers, people don’t know the sneaker game if they think they are worth less than that

How do you feel about the protruding heel portion of the midsole on the new 998s? I hear many complaints about the new shape but I guess it’s supposed to be updated for improved comfort?

Mine just delivered. But this pair 998 feels tighter than my other 2 998 models - original grey and long hair grey/blue 2023. What about yours? Do you have other 998 to compare? Thanks
