I’m following along on this tutorial and am 90% done with my pleated skirt! Thank you so much for putting this together and making my first real sewing project possible. I adore my skirt
If you use pj pants that have pockets, you can cut the under pleats that go in the sides from the sides of the pj pants and take the already created pockets with the under pleat pieces for a skirt with pockets. For stability, you’ll want to sew the pockets permanently facing forward like in jeans. Hold them in this placement, and add extra stability to reduce sagging when your pockets have stuff in them by attaching a ribbon to take the weight of the pocket, between the pocket bag and up into the waistband.
Thanks you so much! It means a lot to me that you find my explanations clear. I wish you good luck and success trying this skirt. I'm sure, it turns out as cute as mine 🙂
Ahhh I love it! People who make clothes as an art form are the best type of people and always the most creative they make everything look good and are underratedly talented! I wish I could be like you I’m so bad at sewing lol
Thank you so much for your kind words 🙂. I'm sure your sewing skills are good too. People who love to sew and practice a lot, manage almost everything 💪.
hello thank you very much for your reply, but you still need the domestic home sewing machine to do some things that you can't do with the juki industrial sewing machine yes is that correct,?
If you want to use zigzag stitch or make button holes than you need an additional machine. A standard domestic sewing machine can do such things without any problems.
Why is the skirt part a different size from the pleat? Does it give it a more flare look? Just curious as most tutorials I've been looking at they are all cut the same size rectangle.
Yes, the panels for the skirt are a bit different from the panels for the pleats because I wanted a more flared skirt. The bottom part is slightly wider than the top, not much, but enough to achieve this flared look.
Hello wonderful tutorial, however I was wondering what the seam allowance was and if all sides included the top and bottom. So I guess my question is what is the seam allowance on this and is it added to all 4 sides of both panels..?
Thank you 🙂. How to draw each pattern part I describe without seam allowances, so it's easier to understand how to draw. In the end of each pattern part I remind that you should not forget to add seam allowances to all 4 sides of all 3 pattern parts after you have drawn the parts (before cutting). How wide you make the seam allowance is up to you. I prefer 1cm (⅜").
Yes, I stitched the upper 4cm in U shape. In this video I show at time stamp 8:15 only the sewing path with my finger. But on my other channel, where I put the video instructions for my patterns that can be bought on Etsy, I show exactly how to close the pleats at the top at time stamp 4:49 in the video th-cam.com/video/DSfxowLCICg/w-d-xo.html.
@@KatsSewingAdventures OK thank you very much please kindly try to film how to thread and operate the juki sewing machine video tutorial please OK? thank you very much.
BEWARE. This tutorial is for the fabric combination mentioned. DON'T USE THIS for difficult layered drapey fabrics or interlining or elastic or ANYTHING of that sort.
I love box pleated skirts for how full they can be. The short length but not too short with knee socks as you have it are perfect. It makes me feel frivolous and perhaps a bit vulnerable in a good feminine way as im open below The best part is how chivalrous men get. Ladies first. 😉

how did you close that upper 4cm of each pleat? just sew in a ߎ shape?

That's right 🙂. The best fabrics for this skirt are cottons, denims, corduroys, velvets, wools and similar fabrics.
Join two jeans and make a skirt.very nice
I was finding this type of vedio.but clear nahi ho Raha hai.
How did you close the pleads afterwards at the top part
After pinning the pleats in place, I baste them inside the seam allowance (6:30). By attaching the waistband (8:52) the pleats are fixed additionally.

Uau que linda amei😍☝👏👏👏
Thank you 🙂
How did you reinforce the fabric?
She probably used interfacing on that area
Sorry for the late replay. I used the fusible interfacing Vilene G700. But you can use any interfacing which is not too light or too heavy.
Really cute =3=
Thank you so much 🙂
