BISMILLAH. For those who don't understand how CP was misrepresenting the clip of Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, let me explain. CP showed a video clip, out of context, of Sheikh Hamza Yusuf talking about weak hadiths. CP presented the video clip as proof that Muslim scholars accept weak hadiths. However, as brother Farid showed, CP was deceptively showing the video clip out of its context. In context, Sheikh Hamza Yusuf was actually talking about weak hadiths which deal with "fazail e amaal" or "Virtues of (good) deeds". These weak hadiths talk about the Great virtues or rewards you will get for performing a certain good deed I.e. fasting, praying, charity etc. Since these hadiths encourage people to do good deeds, the scholars we're not so strict in accepting such hadiths, because they saw no harm in accepting them. Even if such hadiths were considered weak, the scholars were still willing to accept them because, after all, these hadiths were encouraging people to do good deeds. You don't have to believe it was said by the prophet, but if someone follows these hadiths and is encouraged to do good deeds, then surely that is still a good thing. That is why many Muslim scholars were willing to accept such weak hadith, even though they knew the hadith was not reliably traced back to the prophet(pbuh).
All well and true brother. The question is, though, does it cast a bad light on ISLAM? Does the benefit for a few outweigh the bigger benefit of ISLAM at large? Iv'e always struggled with these so called weak Hadiths and IMHO they should totally be eradicated. Otherwise it does make a mockery of ISLAM. Abu Bakr ibn al-‘Arabi said that it is not permissible to act on the basis of a weak hadeeth at all, whether with regard to virtuous deeds or otherwise… See Tadreeb al-Raawi, 1/252. Likewise Shaykh Al Albani said said that it is not permissible to act on the basis of a weak hadeeth at all Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb, 1/47-67 Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Majmoo’ al-Fataawa, 1/250: It is not permissible in Islam to rely on weak ahaadeeth that are neither saheeh nor Hasan" Another nail in CPs coffin!
Although I don't agree with CP I think this is overboard. If I find a weak hadith that says that I get extra rewards for sending Salawat upon the Rasul (Sall-Allahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sahbihi wa sallimu) before sleep 33x, then I shouldn't be stopped fron doing this just because the chain of narration is weak. The fatwa doesn't make sense and is a bid'ah of itself.

It is permissible to narrate reports that are not known to be lies in order to encourage and warn people, but only with regard to matters where it is known that Allaah has encouraged or warned against them on the basis of other evidence the status of whose narrators is not unknown. It is even possible (though less likely) that a weak hadith might be true. If so then forbidding their use could possibly mean forbidding a part of the Sunnah or hindering otherwise good deeds. I have respect for Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah (RA) but I cannot agree with him on this regard. I see more harm and good. And it forbidding something which has been permitted is counted as a bid`ah in itself as far as I know. Though this is just my non-scholarly opinion. May Allah Ta`ala grant us more understanding on these regards and on the general questions of bid`ah. Amin.

If it's "anonymous" then it is "unknown" or "unidentified" and not "truly" from God. You should look in the dictionary for the word anonymous. Also, Qur'an doesn't have lot of authors but only one author who is God Himself which is stated in the Qur'an itself:

For those who don't understand how CP was misrepresenting the clip of Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, let me explain. CP showed a video clip, out of context, of Sheikh Hamza Yusuf talking about weak hadiths. CP presented the video clip as proof that Muslim scholars accept weak hadiths. However, as brother Farid showed, CP was deceptively showing the video clip out of its context. In context, Sheikh Hamza Yusuf was actually talking about weak hadiths which deal with "fazail e amaal" or "Virtues of (good) deeds". These weak hadiths talk about the Great virtues or rewards you will get for performing a certain good deed I.e. fasting, praying, charity etc. Since these hadiths encourage people to do good deeds, the scholars we're not so strict in accepting such hadiths, because they saw no harm in accepting them. Even if such hadiths were considered weak, the scholars were still willing to accept them because, after all, these hadiths were encouraging people to do good deeds. You don't have to believe it was said by the prophet, but if someone follows these hadiths and is encouraged to do good deeds, then surely that is still a good thing. That is why many Muslim scholars were willing to accept such weak hadith, even though they knew the hadith was not reliably traced back to the prophet(pbuh).

Although I don't agree with CP I think this is overboard. If I find a weak hadith that says that I get extra rewards for sending Salawat upon the Rasul (Sall-Allahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sahbihi wa sallimu) before sleep 33x, then I shouldn't be stopped fron doing this just because the chain of narration is weak. The fatwa doesn't make sense and is a bid'ah of itself.

In regard of your suggestions than I didn't quote you the whole Fatwa of Shaykh Al Islam ibn Taimyyah which supports your few and is inschAllah also correct.
"It is not permissible in Islam to rely on weak ahaadeeth that are neither saheeh nor hasan, but Ahmad ibn Hanbal and other scholars regarded it is permissible to narrate reports concerning righteous deeds which are not known to be proven, so long as they are not known to be lies, on the basis that if an action is known to be prescribed in Islam from shar’i evidence, and there is a hadeeth which is not known to be a lie, it is possible that the reward referred to in that weak hadeeth may be true. None of the imams said that it is permissible to regard something as obligatory or mustahabb on the basis of a weak hadeeth; whoever says that is going against scholarly consensus. It is permissible to narrate reports that are not known to be lies in order to encourage and warn people, but only with regard to matters where it is known that Allaah has encouraged or warned against them on the basis of other evidence the status of whose narrators is not unknown. End quote. Majmoo’ al-Fataawa, 1/250
@@sohrab4497 Tamam, but I think that it has to be based on something. As long as it isn't a `aqidah or shar`i question u do t see how it could be a sin. It is even possible (though less likely) that a weak hadith might be true. If so then forbidding their use could possibly mean forbidding a part of the Sunnah or hindering otherwise good deeds. I have respect for Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah (RA) but I cannot agree with him on this regard. I see more harm and good. And it forbidding something which has been permitted is counted as a bid`ah in itself as far as I know. Though this is just my non-scholarly opinion. May Allah Ta`ala grant us more understanding on these regards and on the general questions of bid`ah. Amin.
